"haadba haad kici haybadaadu noqotaye hodan baad ka tahay qurux. hawona waa tan igu jirta helistana nasiibkay" I abused that chorus in every first date instant message. I still have some of my first hotmail dating dhanbaals. I have received lots of nimco jaamac migil lyrics and khadra dahir calaacal. xaliimooyinku caashaqoodu waa iska maadays aduunyadu dadkuna waa matalayaan. weligay wax sanad dhan been ay isla ogyihiin ku haasaawa somali baan arkay. ajeniba 2 weeks iskuma qaadano.

Sheekada Soomaalidu waa 'i jiid aan ku jiido'.

On a serious note though, for Somalis it's two groups: for those who were either born or grew up in the West, most of them can date and shukaansi just like the locals. And the second group is us, the FOB's, and for us dating Xaliimo's will be somehow complicated just like it was back home and it's mostly to do with the Somali culture & the fear that girls have if they're seen or suspected they're dating Faaraxs that they may be seen as dhilos (coz most of the time Faaraxs themselves can't shut the fuck up and shoot themselves in the feet) etc etc. Then that last caqabad results in both Faaraxs and Xaliimos (at least those who dare) to date people from other nationalities and keep things on the down low and the only time that "dating" between FOB Xaliimos and Faaraxs might be even considered is when there's a hope of marriage. Anything outside of that is either a year long texting or phone-call "shukaansi" and wakhti dhumis. F that!
