Speak Somali with my parents/elder members of family, but Somalis friends always speak English. Unless we in public talkin about controversial shid, that's when it comes through beautifully.

Once Aniga iyo my cousin were on the train talking in somali about a beautiful girl sitting nearby. What we didn't know was she was half somali (half cadaan) but looked white to us.

Aniga: Bal eeg quruxlowda fanaanda madow qabta

Cousin: Jir an caadi aheyn baa ju yaalo walahi

you can't really be somali if u can't speak the language. everyone in my family thats in the diaspora can speak af somali. even the lil kids who were born in america in the 2000s.

realistically the only way u can't speak somali in the west is if ur parents failed. at home somali should be the language of choice.

Its not really a big deal, just send them home for at least 3 months and they'll pick it up easy. 90% of kids understand if they can't speak. If you can't do neither then damn something went wrong

I noticed the Somalis spell words all differently. Nothing is the same. They all spell father different for example. This is why your insults don't mean anything. You can't even agree to how to spell words. Google Translate is even confused, not only me

Markii aan ka naxay waxaa ay young Somalis aga cararaan Somalinimada waxay ahayd markii annagoo traayn saaran, ay a couple of white people asked the teenage girls sitting infront of them, which country their parents hail from them. I know they were both young Halimo's but their response shocked me, they both said, they were Jordanians and the white old guy having worked in the Middle East for many decades started to speak them in Arabic, they giggled and talked to one another in Somali and responded, since they were born here, they couldn't speak Arabic in which he said, I can see you two are speaking Somali, iska warrama. He told them he worked with many Somalis in Saudi Arabia and became interested in their culture, history and language, he learnt to speak rudimentary Somali. Did you notice in cyber, mostly those who claim abootadeey ama hooyadeey ayaa ah, Yemeni, Hazari, Berber, Chaldean, Assyrian ama Roman waxay u badanyihiin dumarka yar-yar ee Soomaaliyeed? Tolow maxay ku naceen inay ku faanaan Somali baan ahay? Ma waxay u maleeyeen inaanu sawirranno inay yihiin hablo cad cad marka ay sheekadaa qiyaaliga ah noo sheegaan? Waa in la baaraa, it is a dissertation thesis for any Somali PHD candidate. We, ragga Soomaaliyeed, oo jecel hablaha Soomaaliyeed ee ah dark brown girls will fund it.

Abdi & Platinuim

You guys are civilised and don't need learn a backward luqqad like Somali, because it requires both of you to function in a Somali mindset when speaking. Marka si nabbed leh nagu dhaafa.

Jokes aside, many kids of both parent households struggle to speak proper Somali and the lack of Somali published children's and teenage books exacerbates their lack of comprehension and speaking the language. What do you think of a single parent household? Ingiriis ama afaafkaa Europe baa lagu wada hadlaa aqalka dhexdiisa.

I have met Somalis who were adopted by White people. They didn't speak Somali.

I'd still consider them more Somali than a Bantu who speaks fluent Somali. Language has nothing to do with ethnicity.

Growing up in my teenage years I didn't speak Somali, me and my siblings would speak English to each other also didn't have any Somali friends. But when I finished school I taught myself Somali by making friends with Somalis and watching Somali TV and asking my relatives what words I didn't understand meant. Now although my Somali isn't perfect I can say it's fluent. Taught myself how to read and write in Somali too :stylin:
