I hope it stays high for a bit longer. I'm trying to sell a few blocks of land I don't need back home.
But yes. Canadian dollar was worth more in the summer. Now 1 CDN is worth 80 cents

Re: Why is the Dollar gone so expensive
Oil prices are artificially inflated..
It's funny because of how they usually explain oil trends in reports as it relates to price. Is it supply and demand, is it production output to Saudi whims, is it security related, natural disasters? We've had high oil prices when much of these scenarios were playing out fervently, and now that the US has more wars burning and threatening even more with Putin & Co, oil prices are miraculously low.

Oil's swift and sudden decline is just the latest Federal Reserve-induced bubble to pop, and if history is any indication, stocks and real estate could soon follow, according to Euro Pacific Capital's Peter Schiff.
"If oil prices are artificially inflated by the Fed, so are stock prices and real estate prices," he told CNBC.com's Futures Now.
http://www.cnbc.com/id/102274185Said Schiff: "When this market turns, it's going to turn fast and it's going to take no prisoners."

Lol, did you just quote Peter Schiff? That guy is a moron. He has been saying the same things for years. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.zulaika wrote:Oil prices are artificially inflated..

Re: Why is the Dollar gone so expensive
You're probably right, but from morons to your most trusted money man, this sentiment is common and felt across the board, I know for sure mainstream US financial news providers are far from conveying the reality of markets but even they cant escape the enormity of mess at the hands of Feds.Itrah wrote:Lol, did you just quote Peter Schiff? Zulaika it's simple production of oil is higher than it's ever been. America has an oil boom, South America has one, and the Saudis have kept production up to push some new companies out by dropping the price of oil by high production.

Re: Why is the Dollar gone so expensive
The dollar is rocketing! Folks back home only know dollar. Last year, I sent 100 Euros to a family member and she cursed me! She said 100 euro maxaan ku falaa? dollar ayaan u baahan nahay.
The problem = demand
Many governments (central banks) in a bid to influence growth and induce inflation have negative interest rates. They have through bonds and other measures pumped local currencies on to the market. In theory, these measures should result in increased consumption, higher inflation rate and stimulate exports (wages are in local currency and export income is in dollars). But that is not working.
The growth of the US economy is attracting capital and this means demand for the dollar is high.
The price of oil and its impact is marginal

Duh !!! i used to specualte in currencyso i know my way around the treacherous waters thank you.Basra- wrote:Oh where is Gurey25 when u need him. He should read this thread and amaze at how the mighty US dollar is being praised. OH wait---Gurey is here. Hi Zulaika.

I knew from last march that the dollar will be going up, everybody knew.
This is why when i moved back to australia from the UAE, i left my saving in US dollars in a UAE bank account, and only left with pocket money.
This has payed of 30% increase in value by doing nothing.
I will be moving my money to OZ in Aussie dollars in the next 3 to 4 months because the aussia dollar will rise again,
Re: Why is the Dollar gone so expensive
So which money transfer company do you use then? My mate owns Dahabshiil office here & I usually give him a call when I want send money and transfer the money from my Netbank account to his account and done, easy. But if there's a cheaper firm I might use them when I want send a lot of money.HooBariiska wrote:0sman wrote:FFS, dude!
