The diaspora has transformed afartan bax; nowadays you'd find a mom who after 2 days of birth ventures outside her home. I had a niece who gave birth on a Friday and she was at a wedding on Sunday. She saw me on the street and shouted adeer Lamagoodle. I ran like xiin faniin. I wouldn't imagine saying hello to naag umul ah.

Essense89: Areey dey waa qalanjadii. Beryahaan aduunka ayaan wareegaayey. Adiga ii waran ina adeer?

Baastounit; soo dhowow maandhow.
:?

I'm quite sure she won't bleed on you...

7 bax: 7 days of rocking and reeling till the break of dawn for the bride and groom. There is a philosophy behind it.

Evol; adeer it is not about bleeding. Just the thought; she is supposed to be home relaxing. To add salt to my cultural injury she was carrying the baby. Waa ceeb in naag umul ah la salaamo.

P.s. it is not only about bleeding; biology is at work and there is a profound need for taking things easy.

7bax lool.

Always, back in the day a man was expected to open up a sewn up xalimo with his member. Let us just say it was a laborious process for both parties. It was a badge of honour for a man to accomplish that task before the seven day period was up.

Newlyweds are often inexperienced and do not know each other that well. Their knowledge of mating is limited too. Two strangers. The 7 days will give them time to know each other, to engage in raaxo. In addition, it is likely that there will be some bleeding (bride) and performance anxiety(groom). Soo 7 maalmood waa la baananayaa waayna is baaninayaa.

Waa waxaad dadkiina reer magaalka ugu yeertaan HONEYMOON.

No, but I'm headed to one soon. (Afartan not to do a :? )

Lama, I know. Fgm is more serious, obviously, but the standard wedding night...trauma. In any case, I didn't know there was a set and named 7-days lol, so thank you.

Trauma it is. Even in societies with sex before marriage, the first time is characterised by trauma and pain.

7 days is one of the few remaining cultural artefacts we have. It will disappear very soon to be replaced by one night stand where the bride will go shopping the next day... LOL

No, adeer. We must not. However, diaspora=financial might and today when dollar power has replaced camel assets the lure is just too much. Our dhaqan is slowly dying.

EVOL, 7-da ayaad ku jirtaa ee sideed shopping ku aadi? War anagaa wax aragnay; you have oodka, caano geel, caano fadhi and love; and you want to go shopping? You have dozens of women to cater to your needs; you are the queen; shopping aa? Ballo
