Anyone know where i can find this journal everyone is losing their shit about?

This whole campaign seem to be more about identity politics rather than any kind of legitimate complaint of inaccuracy. And even so, This level of reaction is unwarranted. This article makes it seem like there is some kind of conspiracy where white academics are consciously and actively trying to keep somalis out of academia which is bullshit. Sure what Hoehne said was kinda ignorant but he is only one guy and doesn't represent the whole of academia .

If somalis are so pissy about this why don't they make their on journal and critic the flaws in the SJAS? These somalis need to stop being so sensitive, and go about this in a more mature fashion.

a) The "journal" is not a top tier journal ( it is not indexed/abstracted in major academic repositories; this is also true for many journals where somali studies/somalis publish). In other words, their scientific value is nil.
b) Academic arguments should be met through academic arguments
c) Being a non-somali does not render one to study and publish on Somalis(a)
d) So called somali studies are mainly in the field of political sciences, social sciences, anthropology; so called pseudo sciences where evidences are usually in the form of anecdotes, narratives and subject to biases.
e) We tend to turn stones into mountains, dams into oceans; the waan daadshe mentality. The Havard Phd candidate suffers from this disease
f) Almost all so called somali study students are nothing more than a bunch of academics with subjective views

I can't find the link but someone posted this earlier this week and had a link to it. He said (I'm paraphrasing) "you Somalis can talk about white colonialism in academia all you want but at the end of the day you'll just go back to your tribalism"

Yeah he was wrong about some of the stuff he said but some of you have turned this into something else. I mean on twitter the hashtag #Cadanstudies was doing the rounds for days and days on Somali twitter. Its was all pathetic tbh. I bet there wouldn't have been such outrage if it was a Madhow or Indho Yer individual.

Did any of you read the Somali academics cultural wars that was raging few years ago? There were heated debates from our esteemed historians and accusations of distortions of historical facts and historical revisionism. Once you read their papers, you could figure out they were biased and far from objective and argued to put on pedestal their tribe higher than others. Wuxuu ahaa fadhi ku dirrirka qallinka. That German dude has a point. Is there an unbiased Somali scholar towards his or her tribe when writing about Somalis and in particular their tribe? NO.

Safia Aideed is a prolific young writer, academic and a potential great political anthropologist in the future and though I've never heard her before this #caddaanstudies campaign, I have to admit that I have enjoyed reading some of her work on Somali women;

Women and the Somali Nationalist Movement, 1943–1960

And;

Somali Women And The Socialist State.

She is a very passionate individual about our people and she deserves to be supported, but she is wrong to suggest that there are Somali academics left out of the journal who are not predisposed to fabricate Somali history to the "advantage" of their clans. So far, If I'm not wrong, she hasn't written beyond women studies, gender and sexuality within the Somali context and for good reasons I might add, therefore, one might ask, who are these objective and free from tribal bias Somali academics/historians who were excluded in that journal as she claims in her #cadaan studies campaign? Can she give us names?

Once the above professor has penned down in his two works above what he calls 'the myths of Somali history' and argues that it was commissioned and written with the help of biased former regimes of Somalia, his academic adversaries accused him for re-inventing Somali history and the cultural/tribal and the Somali history genie was unleashed out of the bottle. It is still raging.
