stop being stupid. there is a difference between ingridients and original dishes. pizza for example is an original italian dish even if some of the ingredients originated outside the country. however, almost everything that somalis eat is a dish that originated in a different culture. baasto was introduced to us by the italians. caanjeelo by the habash. saambus by the hindi. and so on. sure we changed it up somewhat and gave it our own spin. but they were still dishes created by other thats we adopted.
First of all the person you arguing with is right op used example like pasta and rice as some invention when their clearly ingredients.
and second stop with this somalis didn't invent their own food yes they got some from other people but me and few other posters on this thread showed examples of different food created by somalis :geek:

everything you named is shit that was created in the last 30-40 years or so. I talked to my parents a few years ago about what they used to eat growing up in northern somalia in the 1950s and they said ALL they had to eat was caano geel iyo hilib ari. NOTHING ELSE. isku dhexkaris and all this other shit is stuff that was created when we all moved down to xamar and encountered talyanika iyo dadka kale that lived there.

in the miyi, where 90% of somalis originate, caano geel iyo hilib ari are the only "somali foods" if you wanna call them foods.

This is embarrasing you guys no nothing about somali culture or our indegenous food!

let me educate you guys
Breakfast (Quraac pronounced Kura'a) is an important meal amongst Somalis and often consists of a traditional bread that's in between a pancake and Hot cross buns (see photo). It is similar to Ethiopia and Eritrea's injera. In the South it is known as Anjeero and in the north Lahoh.

This one is called Beer iyo basal (Liver and onions) and is one of the most beloved Somali breakfasts of all time

Basbuusa (Basbousa)

Meeso (Meso)

Baalbaalo (Balbalow)

Popular only in Southern Somalia - Maraq Moos bukiini (Somali Plantain Stew)

Somali sponge cake and Halwa (xalwo, xalwaad) - one of the most popular Somali sweets

They serve authentic somali food in resturants as well as the foods that are influenced by others.

See we do have our own aunthic food! but its great that we have diversity in our dishes adopted from others

This is what makes somali cusine so unique with this blend!

Maraq is usually clear, made with onions, meat on the bone and is watery with optional potato. Suqaar is drier with more meat and veg. Suqaar is made with diced meat off the bone.

I'm actually glad our cuisine is growing diverse to include more ingredients from around the world. I wanna see more Asian influence into our cooking.
