what SimplySerene means is people usually don't bother with Muslim women with hijaab. They ignore & avoid you like the plague because they can't deal with talking to a person so different looking. It literally makes them uncomfortable. Thoughts like 'does she even speak english? 'is she knew to country' usually run through their mind.

People are coming up to me more now and talking to me.

When people have a conversation with me those stereotypes will disolve more and more

I know what these people are thinking.
This poor uneducated lady has been forced to wear this thing. She is oppressed. She is weak.
Then there those who are internally they are angry to see me. They do want any Muslims to exist on this planet. They view Muslims as the destruction of the world
Usually friendly ones come up to me. That is fine. They can talk to their friends about me. And they do.I know they doing that.

Are you living in a tuulo? Are you the first muslima to wear a hijab in that community?
Everyone is use to seeing a hijab now unless you live in a redneck town or you wearing burka or you look like this.

Hijab is not even required by the Quran.
No man gets turned on by hair, what a joke. Only sick Arabs sexualized hair.

I can only imagine the feeling.
Unfortunately,i dont think just taking off a piece of clothing off ur head is gonna solve ur problem.
Do others around u feel similar?Do u live in a small town? How do those u hang around dress?
Personally,i really never felt like taking off my hijab will make my life easier.Maybe it is so hot and i feel i am gonna suffocate but never out of fear.
If u want u seek is validation and attempting to blend in with the masses,i assure, hijab removing isnt gonna be the end.

The thought never actually crossed my mind but, it's a struggle nonetheless. A struggle only other hijabis face. May Allah make it easy for us ameen.

Grandpa aboowe caadi iska dhig, these are difficult times for Muslims everywhere.
Cherine,
Hijab is jihad in these times, you're not alone. They're thinking of banning Islam in Europe. My friend's kids started wearing tight leggings and backward hijab as as soon as they became teenagers due to peer pressure. Our kids love Islam but the non Muslims really don't like it and quote Dorkins to you, even though they're Christian. Atheist Dawkins admitted that he still reads the bible for comfort and that he's never read the quran. Its a war against Islam so they can feel less bad about what they did to Iraq and Afghanistan...the people who are attacking you are fed lies every day and they used nationalism to make them hate Muslims. When they see hijab, they see the power of Islam (the power of Allah to us) and how little power they have. Dropping bombs are not power, real strength is perseverance. Even without the hijab you'll be given trouble for being Muslim, then African (migrant), being black and being a woman in that order.
