Re: JL & PL to reject HIPS report on population
I agree somalis are about 25 to 30 million. the number of somali diaspora are always under estimated. actually somali diaspora around the globe are more than 5 million for sure.
Re: JL & PL to reject HIPS report on population
Somalis in kenya number less than 2 million while those in ddsi are less than 4 million. atmost, somalis around the world are less than 20 millionXamud. wrote: I honestly think Somalis as whole are laangaabs, the real number of Somalis worldwide is probably 25 million at most, about 5-6 million of them live in Kilinka 5ad, another 3 million in Kenya, 2 million abroad (North America, Europe, Asia) and the remaining 15 million are in the motherland(Somalia\Somaliland call it whatever you want)

Yes, that's a rough estimate for the Darood.Xamud. wrote:
1.9 mill for PL? is that including Dhulbahante and Warsengeli degaans? 1.3 for JL? is that including both of the Jubboyin and Gedo?

I know you meant to be insulting, but:Warsheekh wrote:1.9 million for puntland sounds totally logic ileen the place is Barren dessert. Jubbaland is one of the least populated regions in somalia. Banaadir, lower shabelle and baay got the largest populations in somalia. Followed by middle shabelle and hiiraan.
1) the word is desert but dessert,
2) desertification is a problem throughout Somalia,
3) what's the link between population and deserts? or wealth and deserts? Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain etc seem to be doing just fine
4) Bosaso has the highest income per capita in Somalia, with the average annual income per capita being over $1460 ( SOMALIA: Political and security crises, access limits and donor cuts increasing IDP vulnerability, 2009). It's no wonder people continue to flock to Bosaso and the barren desert in Puntland. Even IDPs would rather roast under the Bari sun where they are protected and their ability to make a decent income is guaranteed. Talk to me when that type of freedom and equality exists in Al-Hawiyah.

As for Abdi Aynte's agenda-driven guess work, let's see if he even releases the report. Word on the stress is the nigga is stressed as hell about it.

Buranbuur Puntland is empty as hell. If you want to lie to yourself do that. No amount of huffing and puffing will change the reality on the ground. Don't make me post satellite photos. Shabelle hoose alone got larger population than puntland

Re: JL & PL to reject HIPS report on population
Men lie, women lie, numbers don't. State facts and post evidence, but leave the calaacal and the 'my hoyoo told me' stories in the marfish buddy. I just showed you that Bosaso has the best standard of living in Somalia and you want to talk to me about how many mud huts your qabil has according to Google.Warsheekh wrote:Buranbuur Puntland is empty as hell. Re: JL & PL to reject HIPS report on population
Nope, we are nowhere near 5 million, diaspora Somalis are 2 to 2.5 million at most. 800k in North America, about the same in Europe and 30k in Australia.theyuusuf143 wrote:I agree somalis are about 25 to 30 million. the number of somali diaspora are always under estimated. actually somali diaspora around the globe are more than 5 million for sure.
Well that's interesting, PL+JL=3.2 millionBuraanbur wrote:Yes, that's a rough estimate for the Darood. Abdi Aynte and HIPS are biased and his organizations lack of independence has already been exposed by the UNSEMG. He has always been closely linked to the Somali government and now he's a Minister in the cabinet so there's definitely an agenda at play here.

Some people are soo dumb. They believe that living in a tropical terrain, which has adequate rainfall, able to grow much fruits and veg =success and development and living in a hot barren dessert with little to no rainfall and unable to grow food stuffs = poverty, starvation, irrelevance and underdevelopment.
Surely if this was the case tropical central African countries would be miles ahead of dessert north African countries. There is absolutely no comparison between Algeria and Cameroon, between Tunisia and Central African Republic (Before the civil war), between Congo and Egypt or Between Morocco and Uganda.
Yes we Puntlanders live in a dessert hot region of Somalia but we have something that No other Somali's have and that is HUMAN RESOURCES. You can have all the rainfall you like, grow all sorts of food stuffs buy without human resources, YOU ARE NOTHING.

Re: JL & PL to reject HIPS report on population
Somali population data points plotted on a bell curve:
-- 30 million is at the very high end, 99th percentile and above
-- 12 million is at the very low end, 25th percentile and below
-- 18-22 million is more plausible figure, between 50th to 75th percentile.
Still huge number by any statistical measurement.
Note: Ethiopia's CSA historically undercounts Somali population in Soomali-Galbeed. If asked, I would say Somali population is closer to 7 million than 4 million in Soomali-Galbeed.

Re: JL & PL to reject HIPS report on population
I had a preview of the report before it was released. It is 100% the same as one version of a UNFPA report from 2014 that was rejected by the Puntland government and so it was never officially released. There was another version before that that was rejected by the SL government because they felt their numbers were inaccurate. The current version was accepted by Somaliland.TheGrumpyGeeljire wrote:That report is absolute nonsense.

Seriously, 12 mill!
Nigga who came up with that must have been marqan.
We are 10 mill and that is being generous.

Buraanbur take a look at this map from The UN which used the same method to determine population density all over Africa.
It is much more believable because they had no agenda. Kismaayo and Banadir have the same density.
I have more faith in the UN than in some hutu research institute

Re: JL & PL to reject HIPS report on population
This whole thing is politically motivated. There were 2 versions of the report by UNFPA and he selected the one that was beneficial to his agenda but it backfired because NO ONE is happy.thegoodshepherd wrote:Buraanbur take a look at this map from The UN which used the same method to determine population density all over Africa.
