What faan?

What we did was beyond beautiful. My people are the friendliest, most generous, humble people ever. We are giving credit to our people and letting them know how marvelous they're. We are not bragging.

I remember that incident, but Puntland made it a non-issue and didn't film their politicians talking about it. Nor did Somaliland use it as an opportunity to get some soft power. I'm telling you, Somaliland politicians are braindead.
Have also noticed Mogadishu current cabinet are new generation and mosly highly educated while SLand cabinet are outdated cold war generation.

He wasn't aware about how social media has become one of the most useful tools in modern society.

Jugjugwacwac: while this event was unfortunate we r not stupid enough to base our understanding of that region on one, two or three incidents.

I was in Hargeisa in last September and apart from few qashqashaad in the airport felt home, I really loved it and want to go back to it.

This is the land that gave us Timacade, Cigaal, Hadraawi, gaariye and many more so I don't think in noqoneyso wax laga socon waayo, worse things r happening in this world and things r getting worse. As you said it was PR disaster like zamzam issue.

At first when I heard from people I was sickened by the news but later on as I watched it on tv I was disgusted by how the whole thing was politically motivated. I could not believe what i was watching and what my ears were hearing. Am talking about the moron with the camera filming the women on board the boat as he asked...' ma reer Somaliland baad tahay'?. One lady's response when asked why she wanted to come to sl ...' caruurteydan raba inaan ku korsado hargeysa iyo burco' what a fitting reply to such shameful approach to Somali mothers fleeing war. In other words....fuck you, Somaliland is also my land!!! :rose:

As far as the reaction from Somali people at large are concerned, I am not surprised at all. It became second nature to us inaan shar iyo khayr bah ku xintamno.

The idea that one has to wonder if reer Somaliland are happy with the treatment of those Somalis fleeing the war in yemen is a bloody insult and borderline blasphemy. But this is not really about the incident in Berbera. Nor is it about Somaliland at large but about Isaq.

Its a God send for those that hate everything Somaliland stand for. Be it for political or qabyaalad reason. The men who started this knew exactly what they were doing and what the outcome would be.

The best course of action for reer sl especially the isaq is to just keep quiet till the whole thing blow over. Because you can't win. You damned if you do (express anger at the berbera madness) and you damned if you don't.

Like Princedaadi said, worse things are happening in this world. And it will take more than couple of munaafiq to change the reality.

Smh @ the people still making excuses. What sl did was wrong...they had a chance to redeem their rep.. but instead made excuses.."xaga amniga dadka loo celiyey"...."we dont have enough resources"..bla bla..lakin yemanta resources wa lo haya amniga dhibaato keeni mayaan miyaa? I dont blame the shacab..i know many slers who were outraged about this..and even set up gofundme account. I think the cruel interior minister should be sacked.

Puntlandna Allah keyr haka siiyo.

What I'm saying is Puntland has us beaten when it comes to public opinion because they know how to downplay their misdeeds and play up their good deeds. I'm actually saying it's a good thing which I wish Somalilanders had. It's not an insult at all. It's as if Somalilanders and their politicians live in a bubble and are oblivious to the soft power games that are being played in the region, which largely depend on public opinion and perception.

I'll give u another example. Look how the Daarood were successfully able to hijack daraawiish history, and instead of Isaaqs presenting a counter narrative just sat back and let Somalis beleive they were lackeys for the gaalos. It's this complacency and lack of urgency to manage and maintain ones image which I find to be a problem. Puntlanders don't have this problem cuz they are very good at politics and PR.

Somailands strengths lie in consensus building and maintaning the peace. They suck at all other aspects of politics in my opinion.
Loosing public opinion is not very hard when you have idiots like this. This is why I hate social media, everyone tom, ceeb, and harry has a voice.
