Malachite,
If you set a goal you both agree on, what you go through of trouble keeping that love grow will be worth once you settle with your choice of a woman(her) eventually. The pursuit of who you love and what you want is always noble as long who you are pursuing and what are decent.
You mentioned a time frame of a year plus, I think that is not bad at all. Some people have been in long distance relationships longer than that and survived with successful ending to their story.
It is not easy to find a woman who can relate to you as much as you would hope for, so if this woman is all that good in your eyes, don't be discouraged by the short-comings of the distance and not having her next to you physically for a movie date etc.
Meeting her on Skype and talking to her for hours is beautiful in itself. Who needs a movie when she can be the movie you watch?
I hope she is worth you bro. You seem smart and decent. A Somali brother responsible enough to go to college and be in love with a Somali woman. The fact that you are open about your love for her deserves my utmost respect. We all want our sisters to get married to a Somali guy who loves them. She is lucky to have you.
Best Of Luck.
Quantum.

I just thought you were trolling. Never can tell. I also didn't expect you to be so forthcoming. I cannot discuss relationships with you Sam. It might be followed by hair braiding and exchanging water cooler convo. Stick to tech topics or your hard line against other healing modalities. LolMalachite wrote:Sophisticate wrote:![]()
I don't know you.
Ever since SultanOrder started making soft threads, the bravado in this place dropped to sub-zero levels. Very unbecoming.![]()

^ No need to be so hard Soph. Forcing men to stick to an image of masculinity that negates love and affection is wrong.

Malachite, I agree. It doesn't become easier, in fact there will be periods where the distance is actual pain, but when you love someone that much, it is okay, because there is a certain sweetness in that kind of longing. And who knows, the need to see each other again may drive a surprise visit to occur, much sooner than the time frame you're expecting. Just don't get frustrated and throw in the towel. That would be the coward's way out.

It's best not to assume. I'm not forcing men to conform to ideals of "hegemonic masculinity." I'm merely chipping away at his former macho bravado veneer, that he's built up over the years. He's an slife pal, I'm sure he can handle it.

Long distance sucks. Physical aspects of a relationship are just as important. Platonic love is gaaaaay. Call it quits.

True. That's the best part about veneers, they eventually chip away!!
I prefer this Malachite anyways. Tough on the outside, love and charm on the inside.
