Mr ''culturally cadaan'' have you ever even been to Somalia?

I have been to both Somaliland and Puntland and to me there isn't much of a difference.

I don't believe the part where you say that many parts of Somalia are similarly peaceful.

One way to break the stalemate is to have land swaps with Ethiopia.
The iidoor regions of northern Somalia and Haud can be exchanged for the ogaden region of Ethiopia.
The iidoor will forever be free from the Somali's they so despise, and Ethiopia will achieve their centuries long goal of having an outlet to the sea. :)

Puntland is a third of Somalia.. Hence ''many''... and there's Galmudug and some other calm regions.

Galmudug is not peaceful, unless you want to pretend that Gaalkacyo doesn't exist.

Again, what are other calm regions you speak of? Nugaal region has issues with security and Bari with piracy.

Those are minor issues and absolutely nothing compared to the Al Shabaab rampage around Xamar.

Somaliland folk are delusional in thinking that their region is much better off.

Those "minor issues" occur more frequently and have killed a lot of people. Two now, three later and 5 after that, it all adds up.

Al-Shabaab attacks has a lot of deaths but it is mostly military, and it is usually once in a while.

It is very possible that there are more civilian deaths in Puntland than down in the south.

Anyway, why do you assume I'm Somalilander? Did you know I'm pro-unity? Come over to my thread on independence and pro unity if you wanna debate.

I support whatever is better for Somali people as whole. If it means dividing it up temporarily, then so be it. Only time I draw the line is when Ethiopia gets involved.

It would be nice but Puntland would not be able to survive on its own. It's better for them to join with SL.

if somaliland can survive on its own, i don't see why puntland can't.
The reasons why I think it wouldn't be able to survive on its own:

1. Is not full government. Somalia government does some of things for them. Puntland needs to remove that dependence. Hint: It's not easy and Somalia will attempt to block any attempts of this.

2. Its military is small. There are some reports of soldiers not being paid.

3. Small budget. No effective tax revenue from its own citizens. There are some tax here and there but no effective control of tax revenue. It doesn't need to be full control but just enough to bring in enough money.

4. The Galkayo issue needs to be fixed.

5. General security problems.

There are some other issues currently facing the country but those 5 issues are the most important.

If given a choice, I would rather for Puntland to join Somaliland and get recognised than Somaliland to get recognised on its own.
