So a guy with no worldy belongings marrying wealthy woman=scrub. How superficial.
It is interesting that our Prophet peace and blessings be upon him married Khadjia who was a very wealthy woman.
I think this is case by case type of scenario. if a guy marries a girl SPECIFICALLY for her wealth, than he fits the bill. But if he marries a woman who happens to be well off, then in that case, the definition doesn't apply

What you witnessed is a natural phenomenon, nurturing is an expression of a woman's happiness. It's not gold digging, it is the building blocks for a strong relationship, a man who wants to better himself should be helped first and foremost by his woman.
Re: I'm not saying he's a gold digger...
Few years ago when I was broke, I got offered 12k a year marriage (half sharci half real) and I declined out of pride, I was young and dumb. Son think about it, im getting easy $1k being sort of a husband on top of my annual income, that means more trips to red lobsters and endless vacay. I always wanted to play volley ball with some nature people in fiji and shit. That extra income would have paid for my lavish hobbies.

Re: I'm not saying he's a gold digger...
Somali men have become gigloos , where fresh handsome young men marry big fat old ugly beasts just for financial support.
We have become scum of the earth, we are male version of western women, Instead of somali women being gold diggers, somali men are gold diggers.

Verbal abuse of men by women has also increased, the study said.
"When I come home in the evening I will find her with some meagre income she has earned that makes her think she has taken over responsibility for the family," one man told the researchers. "She will start yelling at me, 'He is sitting there idly!'"
Men have started seeking wives to support them financially, the study found.
Most common are "diaspora marriages" with Somali women overseas, or "gigolo" arrangements in which "a young, healthy man marries an older woman to live as her sexual companion, assistant and financial dependent".
The researchers called on donors to pay greater attention to men's needs.
"There are lot of men who have suffered enormously and are not getting any support," said Judy El-Bushra, one of the report's authors.

In my end it is called "muruq maal"' mostly 40 plus women who are better off do marry 20 something yes old and keep them 6 month to one yr.
It is not the best option but as Salool said Waa la isku daneynsaa.

Re: I'm not saying he's a gold digger...
As I expected the ladies responses about social climbing men are overwhelmingly...

And the men are very sympathetic to men that are digging for gold.

In response to Kaafiye, they have to be resourceful. There better be something in their bag of tricks, be it personality, looks, culinary abilities etc. The thing about these "male" gold diggers is they want a free ride on easy street. Idman and MissFiora make good points, these brothers have scrub tendencies. The fellow I mentioned in my example earlier was just that. He used his looks to move himself up. His family used to have money and status back home, but experienced a downward shift in social mobility. So he focused his efforts on going back to his old lifestyle by marrying a Xalimo with money. That was his chief aim in life (no lie). He would have been more respectable had he used his resources to make something of himself, but he didn't. The problem with this type is they don't want to buckle down and make a way for themselves and a future spouse, they want to piggy back off of a broad. I have much respect for men that marry women who make more of themselves and make something of themselves, which work in tandem with their spouse, perhaps surpassing the income bracket of their wife later on. We aren't talking about the ambitious ones but the lazy ones that don't apply themselves. Simply put, we're allergic to scrubs.
