Re: Quiz of the day
I just google it and found out in English they called it horse fly

this is indeed what i was talking about
I bet you didn’t know that….
Horseflies are among the world’s largest flies. They belong to the tabanidae family.
Horseflies are located around the world, with the exception of extreme northern and southern latitudes.
There are roughly 3,000 species of horseflies in the world, with 350 different species within North America alone.
Horseflies can be as large as 1 ¼ inches in length.
They are equipped with scissor-like mandibles that tear and cut. When viewed under a microscope, the mouth parts of a female horse-fly look like jagged saw blades.
The bite is painful because the females actually cut a hole into the skin in order to soak up the blood that comes out.
Horseflies are generally found near areas that contain water and/or livestock, both of which are food sources.
Male horseflies feed on pollen and nectar only as they do not have the mouth parts required for blood feeding.
If you are bitten by a horse-fly, it’s a female. Female horseflies feed on the blood of mammals in order to assist in egg development.
Horse-fly eggs are laid on plants in or near water. Once they hatch, they will spend between 1-2 years growing in moist soil or water.
Adult horseflies only live for a few days.
Left uncontrolled, 20-30 horseflies can drain almost a third of a pint of blood from their victims in as little as 6 hours.
Horseflies go by many names. In Canada, they are referred to as ‘bull dog flies’ while in Australia, they are referred to as ‘March flies’.
In the United States, horseflies do not usually appear in full force until the summer months.
here is someone talking about how horse fly chased his car
Today on my run through a forest next to my house I noticed a horse fly kept on going into my hair, I kept trying to hit it away but it always came back to me, I tried to out run it by literally sprinting a quarter of a mile but that little fuc*** was quick. This thing was smart also, I kept zig zagging and making sharp turns but the little guy didn't quit intill I eventually ran into a group of people and it attached on to them. I looked back and saw that now those people were going crazy swinging all over the place trying to get the fly off of them.
Why did this happen? This is my first time in the "deep" south so I never really had to deal with these huge agressive bugs. Can I do something to avoid this, other then stop running in this forest.

Re: Quiz of the day
Kuuley Cali Banjar LOOL. Damn! Great memories. We would surround one when we saw it and scream our lungs out "Kuuleey cali banjar". Effing good old days man. It folds itself to protect its softer bottom side with its outer thorny back, and we would try to get it to show its head to no avail. I feel bad now realizing how cruel we were as kids to the little Animal. But good memories.libaaxyare wrote:qunfud, kashiito or kuuley in english hedgehog is very small

Another animal we feared was Dabacdaeeye/Xoor, which usually stunk so bad and easily got angry. That animal also used to give rabies to kids it bit.
Anyway, awesome thread. I could guess Gendi before I finished reading your post. I haven't checked the thread these days saxib.
Libaaxyare Kirishbooy, raggeddii saxib. Adigoo kalaa maraykanka ka bixi karo. Hope you stay safe and true to your roots
