LooL if "British Somaliland" was recognized, so then why is't so hard for them to get one now?

All you have to do is, send the good Professor to the UN and tell 'em, "Look, we were a country before and we want to become one now".

If thats true why all of suddan have you changed the blue flag? The national anthem/heesta astasnta for mire? Heesta clanka for qarshe? lol

the author of astaanta is from buuhoodle....as I said before there were no defferences between a man from this town and another from baladweyne except the whitemen who were governing them...we have his videos and he says after he wrote it a man from beledweyne has came to him....

So, this popular song has been adopted by the SYL in 1947 as a national anthem

i have watched some videos of the author giving lectures to the somali youth on nationalism, the blue flag was over him not the current somaliland flag

This means sl is a new thing no no matter how hard you try to rewrite history!

I have hard time following your writing. The substance is there, but the exact points you're trying to make are simply not clear for me.

Mind trying again and this time leave out the Ethiopian history revision reference, as I don't see how that applies here.

Any who, the original author of this poem is disputed. You off course went with the one that suits you.I and others from Somaliland are absolutely convinced it was another man who author it.

MR cawaale was student of the great Hajji Yusuf Adan who many claimed was the real man behind the lyrics. He is dead now unfortunately or would set the record straight.

It's a game of politics. After the AU's fact finding mission to Somaliland in 2005, they concluded that Somaliland's case was a special one. It did not violate any of the charters established by the OAU such as the Cairo resolution and the country also had historical legitimacy.

The head of the AU at that time invited Somaliland to the AU summit in Accra so that they could present their case in front of their African counterparts. Egypt and Sudan threatened to leave the AU if Somaliland was given a platform.

So there's no question about the legitimacy of Somaliland. It's merely the political drama that's our main obstacle.

Stop diverting the discussion. The proposed anthem was Qoloba Calankeedu Waa Ceynoo, created by the father of Somali music.

The flag, the anthem and everything it represents was discarded simply because politicians from Somalia killed the dream of Somaliweyn by signing treaties with Kenya (1984) and Ethiopia (1988) and by doing so the Somali republic gave up the claims on the Somali territory occupied by these countries.

The proposed union had one goal only and that was to unite all Somalis under a single state. Now, if the end goal (Somaliweyn) is out of question, I don't see why Somaliland and Somalia have to be united under a single state. Logically it doesn't make sense.

You might disagree but current republic of Somaliland is the successor state to the State of Somaliland that gained independence on June 26, 1960 and became the first Somali country in history to gain independence.
