I just don't use that smiley as good as youSophisticate wrote:No one wants to know about a long-term boyfriend it looks bad, but a husband/fiancé seems legit. I would advise you to tell your aabo to calm down, I'm sure this matrimonial excitement is making him gabby enough to tell the world, but it's too soon and rather taboo at the moment. So don't tell em' until the mehr is close upon you. Mum is the word until then and if they ask any questions laugh it off and keep it moving. It's either that or set a date pronto and get the mehr over and done with. The choice is yours. Congrats mon ami.

You just have to say something with confidence and drop the emoji, that's how it works.SolidCamel wrote:I just don't use that smiley as good as youSophisticate wrote:No one wants to know about a long-term boyfriend it looks bad, but a husband/fiancé seems legit. How Macaan is your shaax? Does it have Hail? Sanjabiil qurfe ? With caano niido
Totally agree, she sounds doubtful about the future with the guy regardless if it's in a couple months or years time lol I don't think I have the guts to bring different faraxs to my dad.. Only one shall make it!

Re: Awkward situation
I find it funny when I hear a Somali/Muslim girl say "I'm engaged" and they usually use that line in Sienna's sort of scenario.
Like no, ama waa lagu qaba (legit meherki ba dhacay) ama laguma qabo. Waxba uma dhaxayso inta.
OP, I'm not going to congratulate you as nothing is offical yet. Better yet, you might even find a better package.

Re: Awkward situation
In Somali culture, if the man and his family come to see your father, than its semi official. Thats how things worked in the old days.
Congratulations.
Btw, if u answered this before disregard it. But is he Somali or Arab? Just curious.

I said in a YEAR time not in years time. It does take a while to organise a wedding you know. No one in my family got married fast. Usually a guy would ask for your hand and they will agree on a mehr and the wedding is set for 6 months after they ask for your hand, in my case a year, so basically next summer if all goes according to plan insha'Allah.

And I'm just sitting back thinking what have I done. I think they already sealed the deal for me and here I am thinking don't panick everything is going to slowly get there and trying to convince myself I'm not rushing.
