Calm down mate. While I am aware of that, Linsanity will go down as one of the most memorable events in NBA history. I am aware he moved to the Hornets but at least he played in the NBA alongside Kobe. A Somali has never done that buddy. I am more surprised by the lack of Somali professional soccer/football players in Europe. This is a game a large portion of the Somali male population spends a lot of time playing and it does not require you to be physically gifted at all. Most Somali teens lack two things that required to make it as a professional athlete; commitment and discipline.

They're too weak and skinny even for football and like someone else said about bball same with footy. they lose interest after high school, parents don't support em and it doesnt pay. Theres somali kids playing at all the youth levels of most teams in london. Too caato waye most of em though.

Somalis have no patience, and don't have parents who will support and motivate them to succeed. They do well in high school age, then loose interest. I know a guy who was great distance runner, and winning all kind medals, he was offered scholarships, his trainer tried everything to get him to accept one of the scholarships. Kid wasn't interested, his white trainer gave up after a while.

The fear of the unknown. That is why. It can be seen as a short-coming on the parents in a way because they are afraid of letting go their kid to face the future on their own. What ifs, and fear for the kid's culture can hold back material progress a kid could have achieved. From the parent's perspective though, their fears are legitimate. They are holding on to what is dear to them even though that may not work for the kid ultimately. The new generation can avoid the conflict by being involved in the kid's life since they know how to navigate both cultures. The future Somalis then will do better this way materially anyway.

They are though sxb. 8 out of 10 times a somali will get bullied off the ball. I used to play at the youth levels for fulham. Either they have not got the talent and they're too weak or they do have the talent and lose interest because of the coaches telling them to bulk up, no pay just free boots, early/late training, parents and other shit in life.

I think theres not 1 senior somali player in the football league let alone the premier league
