Why is it really important for you to get a definitive answer to who won the war? I mean seriously. What's this unhealthy obsession you have with that war?
Because I want to write articles about such war. I respect your opinion, but my obssesion with Ogaden War is not unhealthy, I feel good trying to find out what happened in 1977/78.
Ogaden War was the most important historical fact in Somalia history last century. I feel many somalis dont know what really happened there, they dont know the political and military implications of this war, so I try to show them the importance of this conflict that changed the history of the Horn of Africa.
There are many unknown issues about this war, I hope all the members of this forum can exchange details about these unknown issues and we might have a better understanding of Ethiopian-Somali Conflict.

Don't you think its a bit patronising on your part to be claiming somalis do not understand fully the consequences of that war nor do they realized its effect?
Countless people in here have tried to answer your questions and after all this time, if you are not satisfied with our take of that war, why keep at it? I believe you have your own understanding of what happened in 77 and as far as you are concerned nothing will change your mind. Good luck with your article but I honestly don't think you will find in here the answers you are looking for.
---------------------------------------
You mentioned how this war is important and " we should understand it better"....but what does it mean to you? When exactly did your interest in this war start?
There something about your obsession with this war but I just cant put my finger to it.

My mind will surely change when you show me somali or western sources that prove Somalia won the war.
I want to ask you a simple question:
If I am wrong about Ogaden War final outcome, why are there so many somali authors, even people who knew Siad Barre who say Somalia lost the war.
Could be possible all these authors are wrong about Ogaden War?
Let me show you a list of important somali people who accepts Somalia lost the war
Abdullahi Ahmed Yusuf- Somali warlord
Mohamed Farah Aidid- Somali warlord
Jama Mohamed Ghalib- Former Somali Minister under Barre regime
Ali K Galaydh- Somali Minister in 2001
Nurrudin Farah- Somali novelist
Said Samatar- Somali writer
Abdi Ismail Samatar- Somali writer
Hussein Ali Dualeh- Friend of Siad Barre
Mohamed Osman Omar- Somali ambassador under Barre government
Now is your turn to show me sources that prove Somalia won the war. This is a easy task.
