It might be just a regional difference in spelling, they call it botor in Somaliland. Here's one without the music

The name BOTAR is new. The dance/song is called Batar. It is a xaawaleey dance. It predates the Buraanbur. It is closely related to the Jaandheer.

Waayeel, in the NFD the Batar is very common. I would argue except for perhaps the interriverine areas, the Batar is everywhere.

When it comes to Geeljire based dances there is no north-south.
