Marsiin

Axmed Cumar Jess and the SPM were in Kismayo after it was liberated and handed over to them by the USC. Their sole job was to hold it along with the territory to Af Madow and the Kenyan border.

To the Others

the point of the thread is to contrast the antiKenyan, Anti Foreign attitude of the USC when it came to border encroachment by Kenya. The Mandera liberation signaled to Kenya not to ever cross or interfere in Somalia again. This karbash held ensure that they did not interfere again until Operation Jubbaland under Gandhi.

The USC weren't traitors at all. Many of them just worked under the typical South Somalian attitude of DESTROY DESTROY DESTROY. The problem with Somalia is that for many years, you were living under the propaganda of a mad dictator Siad Barre. The difference between them and many nations is that they actually believed in the lies they were being told. It is why the SNM left them.

With poetry at the center of the Somali life, it's amazing that many of that generation didn't understand the role of hyperbole as a stylistic device. As the women continued to spew tribal hatred through songs and poetry, the men believed in the lies and continued to propagate the invincibility of their clans. I came to fully understand this when an Snetter once pointed out that during the Ogaden war, the women were urging govt. to send 500 women to fight Kenya as the men went to fight Ethiopia. In spite of all his faults, MSB never believed in the ramblings of a mad poet as the rebels and their followers did.

How is Uhuru managing Kenya? He has fleeced the nation more than his own father. With corruption comes chaos, and it is just a matter of time before we begin accepting Kenyan refugees in Somalia.
