Kenya spends alot more in defense than Ethiopia, and has relatively new gear and weaponry.
Ethiopia couldn't even defeat Eritrea in that last border wars.
Plus, in times of war, you need to have cash keep coming in. Kenya's economy is based on tourism and it'll disappear as soon as the war is officially declared. Ethiopia has factories, etc that'll last little bit longer than usual.gurey25 wrote:You cannot compare the two.GAMES wrote:If a war breaks out between Kenya and Ethiopia, my money is on Kenya winning.

IT not even about numbers, its quality and experience.
Kenya has zero experience, and its performance in jubbaland is shameful, and laughable.
kenya has a tiny, careerist armed forces, with little reserves ,
and does not even have the trained troops to recover from a real war,
Ethiopia can equip and army 4 times kenyas size, from the spare parts it keeps in its warehouses,
its eastern command alone is equal to kenya's entire army in size, and with 3 times the armour and artillary.
and lets not even talk about airforces..

Take a look at tourism section here.gurey25 wrote:to be honest kenya is more industrialised than ethiopia by far.

Ethiopia is under the process of re-structurings its armed forces, it has shrunk them from 360,000 to around 120,000 today, 200,000+ in reserve.GAMES wrote:Ethiopia could conscript x3 more soldiers than Kenya because it has the twice the population. Wars aren't about how many men u could call up, but how long can you sustain and support the warfighter. Ethiopia couldn't even defeat Eritrea with only 5 million people in that border skirmishes. They would need a miracle of they wanna take on Kikuyus.
That's my opinion.
I check in here every so often for laughs cause you skinnies never disappoint. You've said so much shit here I must ask:gurey25 wrote:wikipedia is not to be relied on 100% but its good enough for our purposes.TheCadaanGuy wrote:Take a look at tourism section here.gurey25 wrote:to be honest kenya is more industrialised than ethiopia by far.
when i say more industrialized i mean a higher capacity for manufacturing, more factories producing more goods.
Kenya has a larger GDP $55 billion as of 2014 with Ethiopia $50 billion.
Kenya has about half the Ethiopian population so its per capita would be more than twice Ethiopias.
Manufacturing contributes 14% of the GDP in Kenya, and 4% in Ethiopia.
Kenya has more access to hard currency through its exports and tourism sector.
so in both absolute terms and relative terms kenya is a hell more industrialized than Ethiopia..
but this does not necessarily mean anything for war, because none of them produce their own weapons or spare parts.
minimum ammunition production capability in Ethiopia does not mean much too, nor does its good overhaul and maintenance plants make a difference,
The difference in combat ability between the 2 is so greatly in favour of the Ethiopians, that any war between them will be too short lived to affect the economy, or affect the supply of fuel, ammunition or food on both sides,
In as little as a few days the Kenyan army will be destroyed as a fighting force, a ceasefire will be forced on the Ethiopians by the rest of the World, there will be little strain on the logistics of either side.
Well maybe on the Ethiopians but then they will win quickly so it will spare them the pain.

Kenya has about 25,000 and less than half that in reserve, less than 50,000 total.
Kenya spends a huge amount on the armed forces compared to the ethiopians, but what do they have to show for all that money?
Fancy salaries for its officers?, millions in swiss bank acounts for individual high level officers.
Kenya has equipment as outdated as Ethiopia, both armour and airforce are as outdated as what the ethiopians have.
although they did blow allot of money on their new frigates for the navy.
so you have technologically similiar equipment that the Ethiopians have more than 5 X the number of than the Kenyans.
do you understand now where i am comming from,
we havent even talked about training , and experience this is a whole another topic..
there is absolutely no contest here..
This is not Eritrea, there is no terrible terrain/mountain ranges no impregnable fortifications, no EPLF with over 30 years of experience
They will simply stroll across the border and have the kenyan armed forces for dinner, and then digest the meal and have a few more bites before the International community threatens them..
