Clearly things are going bad in the horn of Africa's newest republic. I think this situation implicates everyone in the horn since it's known that the afewerkis government has been funding anti Ethiopia terrorist groups in Somalia , so Eritrea is partly fuelling instability in the region although Ethiopia isn't helping either.

from economy point of view Somalis hugely benefited the tension between ethiopia and eritrea. for that reason i prefer eritrea as it stands right now.

Eritreans flee Eritrea because Western nations specifically European countries grant them refugee status despite the fact that they do not fulfill the criteria. It's politically motivated, the goal is to drain Eritrea of its human capital. While the US on the other hand uses Ethiopia to instigate war.

Keeping Eritrea afloat and in a place where it is able to defend its sovereignty is the interest of many people in the Horn including Somalis, Afar, Oromo and even Amhara to a degree.

That does not have to be based on because Eritreans are nice but regional geopolitics and the balance of powers.

It should have never become an independent country. There is no legitimate ethnic or cultural reason why Eritrea should be independent from Ethiopia.

Al-Shabaab gets the big bucks from Saudi Arabia and the USA. The Eritrean contribution barely makes a dent.

I watched a BBC documentary about Eritrea couple of years back, and its best if we distinguish between the government and the the people.

Eritreans are nice people from what I have seen and talking to some of them here in my state.

But their government is repressive as fuck though. Infact, all Eritreans who live in the diaspora are forced to send $100 a month to the government back home, if they ever want to visit.

That money is then used for its military, because they are afraid Ethiopia would invade them.
