while i agree with inaxasan in some of his or her posts. i found people, i do not know about other muslims including somalis, but if you attend any Q&A session, people are asking stupid things such; which leg i enter the washroom, i cannot sleep the right side of my body, it's okay to sleep in my left side...etc. we created people who like to depend on sheikhs or scholars whatever you like to call them. and worse those sheikhs milking it and entertain such things. we need people to read, those sheikhs they're product of their envornment and of course they give you what "qool" they are convinced and most times not to tell other scholars what they said, all in the name "dont confused dadka 3aamah da" . basic things every one should learn and know it. example, dahaara, fiqh al 3ibaadat, such salat, soum...etc. muslims doing it over 1400 years, or what we call sunnatel fi3liyah. every one can see how muslims pray...as muslims saw time of prophet and after him.

so yes you hear people say , sheikh hebel said and imam hebal said instead "qaala Allah wa qaala rasoul".

Also, in fiqh issues and al-ahkaam and nasikh wal manshoukh, still after all these years of learning in the hand of quran scholars i got confused from time to time about it and back to my father and uncle to explain to me. that needs real scholary and extensive knowledge. cause there is more way to look at it.

overall i do not like blind taqleed, though it's neccessary for some or that what they believe.

Yes , I agree scholars are teachers to us I made mistake saying they are not needed and they weren't all Arab

InaXasan, it is like the [Western] legal system. You may be able to read the words but, understanding them is not really easy. Likewise, if you read the Koran there will be a huge number of versus that you can't make any sense of them and you 'll have to look for explanation from an scholar.

Anyways, I agree with Hyper here, study the religion for yourself and ask away what you don't know.

this is very true for even arab who studied in Arabic school system. not everything is clear and you need to ask to leaern. those scholars spend their times to learn while we have little time for even prayers.

you can read medical school books for years but are you a doctor? some times you need more than studying only .

There is no more useful points I can add. I agree with y'all.

You need to do research before coming to conclusions. Listen to what many scholars had to say about a certain thing not blindly follow one without questioning. For me I can do this easily with the internet but most Muslims have no means & ways to do this so they fall easily to the bullshit they are told by the "Sheikhs" they trust.

Zoomalis everytime arabs are mentioned

Somalis for some reason are very prone to dichotomous thinking, blinding them from the full picture.

Are some aspects of Somali culture being replaced by Arab culture? Yes.
Is this something we should correct? Yes.
Do some people disguise their hatred for Islam with Somali hyper-nationalism and a war on Arabic cultural influences? Yes.
Are all Somalis who speak against Arab cultural influences also anti-Islamic? No.

It's not that complicated folks.

Culture starts with language folks . There are 2 people whose countries are part of the Arab League who do not have arabic as their native tongue . The Somalis and the Bantus of the Comoros .Wearing a khamis or cabayaa is not arabic culture .It is nonsensical disguised hatred { not nationalism.A true nationalist loves his country more than he hates others }, the same way some arabs are however one doesn't answer to hate by hate. There is no grey area here , somalis have their own culture neither terrorism or FGM is "arabic" culture imposed on our people , damn ! I hate stupidity .{ in general terms}

As for me , when I am among arabs I feel like one of them a 100%, how the rest of you feel doesn't really matter .

wearing a big xijaab/niqaab & wearing qamiis 24/7 plus other forms of extremism is considered "Arab culture replacing Somali culture" these days.

Western culture is truly replacing Somali culture if anything

Arabs our a muslim brothers we shouldn't push them away no matter if they are annoying at times lol

It's convenient when arabs don't follow the same principles. It's also funny when a Zoomali calls for the death of another Zoomali but when arabs are mentioned, the Zoomali suddenly becomes the best of muslims.
