What is more confusing is that Darood also refer to Jeberti as an ancestor.
Toloow is this the same Jeberti/Tigrigna?
ileen the Jeberti from Yemen/Arabia was faataadhug

You forgetting about the afar in eritrea they are the gangster ones, they even invaded djibouti at ras doumeira djiboutians ran to french later on qatar stepped in to save the daytheyuusuf143 wrote:I don't understand this tigray tigringya tigrai tigre shit, I am confused, I wonder how long it took Hawdian to understand it.
I disagree that Anfar should be all Ethiopians. Anfar are part and parcel of the Somali Afar republic of Djibouti. They belong to Djibouti than any where else. Insha Allah when Ethiopia falls Afar and Djibouti will be incorporated.

You are one hateful saho agew. All you do is bitch about tigrigna this kebessa that.Revolutionary wrote:They are both the same but different nationality. Tigrinya is a language but its identity was created in the 70s, Tigray is an ethnic. They used to be pro-Ethiopia (pan-Abyssinianism) 45 years ago as well as historically who were linked with Abyssinia in the past and played a major role facilitating the invasion and prior its organization (Union Party backed by Haile Selassie) that were used to help Ethiopia by inciting terror on the Eritrean people who wanted independence from the British Military Administration.
They embraced the Eritrean identity after the Derg dissolved the Emperor by separating the two terms and making Tigrinya an ethnic in Eritrea. This is the time they began to infiltrate to the revolution (hence its uprising against ELF, PLF and atrocities committed against the Eritrean people).
Isaias Afewerki, WoldeMariam and the Tigrinya elites who all have families hailing from Adwa (Tigray) created EPLF-TPLF, infiltrated Eritrea and began creating strategic to divide the Tigrinya and the Tigray in the 70s.
I am not talking about the native Tigrinya speakers but the remnants of Abyssinia in the Kebessa who infiltrated the Highland Eritrea making it hard to distinguish the native speakers and the remnants and its supporters who are the rulers today.
The below screenshot sums it up:
Zoom to make it readable on the two screenshot below.
The member on that quote OP posted is correct about hijacking Eritrea.
The reason why we despise them is -- Firstly, they were Abyssinian and had history of fighting wars, migrations and marginalizing the Eritrean people in the latter centuries, in the 20th century and brought injustice to Eritrea today.
Secondly, the Tigrinyazation of Eritrean society and land grab policies imposed on the 90s and their intention of removing the nationalities and the sub nationalities of the lowland and highland tribes as an aim to assimilate them, similar in the days of Menelik and Selassie on how they played a major role of causing identity crisis among ethnics in Ethiopia by using Amharization society.
The refugees (mainly lowlanders-Saho-Kunama-other ethnic minorities) numbering million who fled from the war were physically prevented from returning their homeland for political reason while Tigrinya (Tigray) have settled in their region in Eritrea. Many Tigrinyas became occupant in the eastern and western lowlands and entirely own the government-political, economical and the military sector.
Many new generation Eritreans under the mafia regime are taught Tigrinya through military conscription and education while their native languages or Arabic are discouraged. Millions (vast) outside don't speak it because it was not commonly known in Eritrea except parts of the Highland (where the native Tigrinya speakers inhabit) in pre-1990s which caused identity and communication crisis among Eritreans and how the tribal regime is eliminating the social barrier and languages among Eritreans.
This is the PFDJs strategic of Tigrinyazating Eritrea.
We don't blame them. We blame the corruption of the revolutionist who welcomed the Tigray infiltrators causing them to rebel later ward. They welcomed them even though they witnessed their crimes and intentions on Union Party terror and were on Selassie's side. The new generation Eritreans in the post Afewerki-Tigray regime will have a bigger struggle on the identity when every tribes and sub tribes regain their power. We will also have problems facing the Tigrayan settlements in Eritrea.
In other word, Eritrea is heavily infiltrated by Tigrayans and the Kebessa/Highland badly need a clean up. Also, this root of the problem will help strengthen the unity among Eritreans who all have the same interest and went through the same injustice and the most important part is learning the lesson from the past.
Dude, You as a Sahay agew is 2% of the total population. As such you will always be domintated by the Tigrignas. Now, I dont care how you two handle your situations, But don't involve us in your mess. The kebessa of eritrea and tigrayanas of ethiopia are separate now, And they hate eachother to the bone. We were just killing eachother 15 years ago. Why do you always think we are still conspiring and working together. Just because you can not unseat them from power, Doesn't mean they are getting help from us. Don't make an excuses to your failure.
Re: Hawdian/awrastale, what is the difference between Tigrinya and Tigray?
^^I wouldn't say hate, more like feeling back-stabbed or betrayed. But the rest of your comment is on point though. Btw where in Tigray are you from?
To the rest of the Somalis, there are no significant differences. Tigray = confederation of different tribes who assimilated and adopted the "tigrinya culture" in Ethiopia. Tigrinya/kebessa = confederation of different tribes who assimilated and adopted the "tigrinya culture" in Eritrea. Tigre = confederation of different tribes who assimilated and adopted the "tigre culture" in Eritrea (although there is slightly different cultural practices among the tigre speakers). Whats significant about the Tigre speakers is that at least half of them are direct descendants of "Tigrinya speaking" groups. Everything is else is PURE POLITICS (including religious practices)!!!

The Skinni somalis are fast learners, but their problem is they see everything as they see their own region.

My maternal grandfather is actually born and raised in Wolkayit. I've heard a lot of crazy stories about the wolkayit people, especially from back in the days. I also heard that the region is extremly fertile and rich in agriculture.comeAndGo wrote:What's up My dembia relative.

Re: Hawdian/awrastale, what is the difference between Tigrinya and Tigray?
Greetings guys,
C&A how come you are hating on the Agew yet you want to visit Wolqayt?
I have Muslim friends from Welqayt, Humera, and Sokota. They don't deny their likely Agew roots but they consider themselves Gonderi Amhara. They tell me how current Gov is cracking down on them and taking their farmlands.
The majority are Agew Tewahedo who now associate with Amhara.
Yes it's agricultural region that grows sesame seed mainly thanks to Tekeze river.
Interesting that our anseba friend of Tigre roots has Welqayti maternal grandfather. Was his background Tigrai or Agew/Amhara?
Many Muslim Agew/Amhara fled from the region during Yohannes rule for eastern Sudan. Of course many settled in Kassala and Anseba in Eritrea.
There were no restrictions between Kassala and Anseba until EPLF came to power and Bashir in Sudan.
If I get chance I will do road trip from Dire going south to Hawassa, Adama, Addis, Debre Markos, Bahir Dar, Gondar, Dessie, Meqelle, Axum, Adwa, Adigrat and enter Eritrea from there via Mendafera/Serae.
My intensions are to get Somaliland businesses to finance my journey. It's not that I can't afford it but I do like to get them involved and the data I collect along the way would be available to them for free.
Believe it or not Eritrea is less visited to us than Tigray. I know dozens of Somalis from SL who been to Tigray but never met or saw anyone that went to Eri.
That remains the least explored Somali frontier yet the people are close.
Of course I do love to write a book based on my journey in Somali and translate into Amharic, Oromo and Tigrinya.
That's the plan.

Re: Hawdian/awrastale, what is the difference between Tigrinya and Tigray?
Interesting. Wolkayit is developing at a neck speed right now, while the rest of tigray is stagnating. There is no growth anywhere in tigray but wolkayit. You should visit humera when you have a chance. I heard its a nice place, nice people. They have their own zone right now, They used to be with shire(western zone), But now shire is North Western zone, While humera/wolkayit/tsegede is Western Zone, and humera is the capital.7anseba wrote:My maternal grandfather is actually born and raised in Wolkayit. Re: Hawdian/awrastale, what is the difference between Tigrinya and Tigray?
AwRastalee. I dont hate the agews, I hate this agew migrant saho revolutionary. The Agews are the coolest, and nicest people. But they are backward, They lazy and they dont like to work. They have a notorious begging culture, that even spilled to some part of neighboring enderta, samre. Their regions are the poorest and didn't get any attention by this government. This govt that we have right now is whore govt. It always backstabs the people that had his back. The Agews in lasta, were the first to side with tplf. Their the one that formed be'adin(the amhara version of TPLF). TPLF used to move around sekota/lasta. And the people used to defend TPLF as their own. The first area TPLF liberated after tigray was sekota/agew. But this prostitute govt always try to appease the one that hates him the most, Like the amharas and the Oromos and forgotten the People of Tigray and Agew. The Agews should have gotten their own kilil. But this whore govt gave them to Amhara kilil.
The wolkayt are not agew my friend, They are tigrayans and were always with tigray until 1950s. The problem came after first woyane rebellion in tigray. And hailesellasie after subduing the revolution with the help of the british, Came up with a plan to punish tigray so They will not raise again and threaten his kingdom. What he did was cut some fertile parts of tigray and gave to the neighboring kiflehagers. Raya was cut in to two and was given to WOLLO kiflehager. And Wolkait was given to Gondar kiflehager. The rest of Tigray was put under heavy taxation and servitude, that brought the famine of 1950. So the wolketot And the rayas were deliberatly brainwashed to not associate with this poor and miskin agames(mainland tigrays) for about 50 years. There was also a lot of settlment of amharas from dembia to wolkait. This amhara settlers were given lands and titles and became natives of the land While the tegaru Wolketot were neglected in that period. This kind of administration lines were continued by The derg. But the irony is the Wolketot Despite being bombarded with fake different identity, they never lost their language and tigrigna culture. I can show you a reference to a census done by derg in wolkait, And almost 90% of them claimed they were tigrayans. I can back this up With a lot of documents from old books that was written way before TPLF was born.
After tplf came to power and change the administration borderd to be 9 states instead of 13 kiflehagers, They manage to return some part of raya and wolkait back to tigray. So You might heard the cry from the amhara, how gondar land was taken to tigray. But they fail to mention how it was a stolen land that was returned. How can we take a land from gondar, While it was not theirs to begin with. We simply returned wolkait back to tigray. TPLF didn't even return the whole Wokait. It returned only part of it. And there is still some tegarus in gondar that want to be included to tigray and they are being harrased currently by the Amhara kilil Governer. They even signed A 60,000 petition And send it to the federal Govt saying they want to be with tigray. But You know How TPLF is, They don't care About anything except their power.
But yeah you will find some Amara settlers in Wolkait Which are very influential and rich BTW, And most of them are in the west. That complain about they want to be with the amhara, But their probably 5% of Wokaits population though They have the loudest voice.
The agew in gondar Are called Kimants. So there are four agew tribes That live inside old abbysinia. The Bilen in eritrea. The wag/last divided between Wollo and tigray, The injibara Agews in Gojjam and The kimants in Gondar. The fours regions have no contact to each other(may be the kimants and Wags are connected I'm not sure). The largest are the Waghemera agews. They main beadin guys like The big ANDM/be'adin guys are from Wag but they never helped their people, I think they hate their own race and they want to be Amara.

Yes I wish to visit Humera one day, it lies just opposite of Umm Hajer. Both my parents actually lived there in their youth, there were many many people from Eritrea back then who lived there. Regarding the Wolkayit, my understanding is that they are Tigrayans since they speak Tigrinya. But very interesting historical points you brought up there. You mentioned that Wolkayit is actually much larger, how far does it reach? How large is the orginal "Tigrayan" lands if you can perhaps show a map?comeAndGo wrote:Interesting. Yes, my maternal grandfather is born and raised in Welkayit, you see most Eritreans have ancestry from many different places thats why we claim our paternal villages/ancestory. Among "Tigrinya" people we also belive in bringing in "new blood" and therefore your spouse must traditionally be at least 7 generations away from having a common ancestry. I'm not sure how widespread but cousin marriages is something practiced only by muslims.

Regarding to travelling Eritrea AwRastaale, you have asked questions why Somalis are not in Eritrea before? Let's be clear, no sane Somali would travel to Eritrea. Back in 1991, there were over millions of Somalis residing to Yemen, Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan and across the Middle East. Most Somalis would never have gone across the sea or all the way to those countries when Eritrea was just nearby. Even I could imagine million settled in Massawa and lowland cities by now if Eritrea was a free or an average country since Eritreans are known to have good rep amongst Somalis.
But Somalis are not stupid, residing to Eritrea is like residing to North Korea. They know it is a totalitarian state. They know under this psychopath are not tolerant to outsiders. They know they are not safe when there are checkpoints in every roads and barely any youth in street (all in the army). They know there is no freedom at all. hence ZERO SOMALIS in Eritrea despite being closest in terms of geographic.
Let alone Sudanese, Yemenis and Djiboutis who cant even live there despite linguistic relationship we share. Somalis cant even cross Eritrea for transit route to other countries to begin with due to fear of being arrested or shot in borders.
Since Somalia is 99% Muslims and most of them take their religion seriously, most would reminded themselves of their nightmare...Siad Barre if they reside since Eritrea is a Marxist country. The only country in Africa where you cant practice your deen freely just like under Siad Barre regime.
Can you imagine Somali women wearing Khimar-Niqab in street? Can you imagine Somalis openly being proud of their deen in public, sheikh preaching at the masjed, reading quran, or opening Islamic affiliated schools etc what Somalis do in the West and at home? They would have been locked up in prison or potential face execution which is widely common among Eritrean Muslims. This tyrant ain't no tolerant toward Muslims and you know it very well since all my Somali mates knows this condition.
When Shabia is gone, feel free to travel Eritrea so you don't have to deal with all the headache we have now.
Re: Hawdian/awrastale, what is the difference between Tigrinya and Tigray?
Anseba, Yes I will show some maps. I saw a map in an old book I read long time ago. It shows old provinces and has TIGRE print on top of all the provinces that belong to tigre/tigray and AMHARA for the provinces that belong to amhara. It reads How tigray was the biggest and the wealthiest state from all states in abbysinia. I also think I read the list of tigre/major tigrays provinces and it lists out wolkait/tsegede, even simien mountains and lasta as tigray major provinces. Old books mention tigre in two different contexts. 1. if they are refering to ethiopian regions as a whole tigre/tigray refers to all tigrigna speaking provinces in northern abbysinia. 2. with in tigray major. tigre is exclusivley the name of adwa/axum province. Tigray major has Tigre proper(adwa), shire, bur(agame, akeleguzay), bahrenegash(seraye hamassien), enderta, tembien, shire, wolkait, wofla, wejerat and simien provinces. Shire lost its statehood during 1700s and merged with tigray proper(adwa and axum). Around 1400 to 1700 bahrenegash was a full fledged separate kingdom ruled from dubarwa.
TIGRAY/TIGRE PROPER is the 200 miles wide province encircling adwa bordering agame to the east, shire to the west, tembien and simien to the south, and Bahrenegash to the north.
TIGRAY/TIGRE MAJOR all the tigray provinces including some lost territories in gondar and wollo.
