Somalia has a huge potential but faces many problems. There is huge salinity problem (due to poor drainage), crop yields are low by world standards, farming practices are primitive, there is virtually government support for poor farmers... there is more to food self-sufficiency than mere possession arable land.

famine starts in ethiopia and spills into somalia .crazy sh1t,if we help our farmers grow more FIRST WITH SECURITY then with technology, like better irrigation somalia can feed itself well.people should also fish more.
Since the first of these tragedies, the population of Ethiopia has quadrupled – from around 26 million in 1973 to around 100 million today. Highland farms (tiny patches of land, eroded by decades of intensive agriculture and subdivided down the generations) can barely feed a family in the best of times. Many still use wooden ploughs, pulled by a single donkey or an ox.

Xata hadi e dawlad dhalato, no one will respect title deeds in koonfur. A lot of Reer Woqoyie owned land in Shabeelaha hoose, two old men were killed last year for their land. Land in Somalia is a very contentious issue, especially farmland. The only way to be sure you won't be robbed is to live only where your people live.theyuusuf143 wrote:my awaaw used to live in jilib 17 years ago. where he relocated after the closure of mareeray Sugar factory. he once showed me his Mareeray Stuff ID, and other property documents and he said to me "awaaw I will keep this for you in case Somalia stands on its own too feet, you may need this to claim my rights and property" I just said "waayahay awaaw" because it didn't really make any sense to me. but now that I am well aware of every thing I can see the value of that land.

Beenta dhaaf, somalia is not like SNET,people die but there is protetion system where you get in contact with the local folks to protect your farms, many have done it.personally,we have had huge plot of land owned by gaalgale, kept it for 20 years until the family returned to Mogadishu in 2010,they built a house now.

Mostly bantus live around the river and shebelle dries up only jubba mostly flows on year basis all these rivers start from ethiopia so if there is drought rivers dry up if it rains alot river flood and destroy crops there isn't no government to manage them.

Yeah I know, But reer waqooyi dhulos/warsangeli are safe around Darod strongholds, reer waqoyi isaaqs who live the south outside xamar are mostly under the protection of biimaal , they are quite safe any where with significant number of Dir clans.thegoodshepherd wrote:Xata hadi e dawlad dhalato, no one will respect title deeds in koonfur.
