Somalis like Sahal would rather worship their Islamo Arab overlords than help their Christian cushitic brothers in Oromia who are starving. they would rather concern themselves with Arab politics than Cushitic problems. Diasporan Somalis are more concerned about the Arab world than their own people, ive even know Somalis from my own suburb whove migrated to fight the Syrian civil war. Somalis name their children Arabic names rather than Somali names, they would rather wear Arab clothing that isnt even prescribed in the Quran such as the Abaya and the Niqab than wear their cultural clothing, slowly Somalia is turning into another Sudan. Ive met many Somalis who identify more as Arabs whilst they look down on other cushites like the Afar or the Oromo who still have their cushitic identity intact. Ive met Somalis who look down on other Somalis because they have a drop of Arab blood. I know alot more Oromo cushite unionists than Somalis, even amongst Oromised Habeshas . Fortunately there are many Somalis are slwoly starting to wake up to this Arabisation instigated by wahabhistssahal80 wrote:Lejusticier

Secondly, why do you want to derail this thread?

Re: Why are Cushitic people so disunited?
They were united not because they liked each other but to counter-balance the Abyssinian threat and to prevent them from expanding into their ethnic/tribal agro-pastoral lands and access the seas to establish a vassal empire which is why everyone and ethnic sultanates reluctantly welcomed the Afar dominated Ifaat and Adal empire and the Madhist-Beja etc who respected their territorial boundaries and fought Abyssinia to stop them.
The problem today is that today the Emperors no longer exist and the current government are not expansionist or have imperial agenda, just typical dictatorships which is why many are under the illusion that they are less worse than Abyssinia.

Re: Why are Cushitic people so disunited?
The label might be artificial but there is no denying that the people who are referred to as "cushites" are genetically and linguistically very related.GubanOgoHawdJSL wrote:Because there is no such thing as cushitic people it's a label made by the white man.
Not to mention culturally. Our cultures are pretty much the same. Everything from our way of life, our cultural attire, etc is pretty much identical. A simple Google search of old photos of traditional somali, Afar, Beja etc nomads is all you need to recognise the overwhelming similarities between these cultures.
Add to that the genetic and linguistic component and it's undeniable that we are closely related.
We're also related to the Habesha but that's a bit more complex.
Re: Why are Cushitic people so disunited?
There are no Cushitic people. They cannot be united if they don't exist in the first place.

A Muslim, irrespective of nationality and ethnicity, is much more closer to us (Somali Muslims) than any kufaar, including the Somali and the bogus Cushitic kufars.Hararboy wrote:Somalis like Sahal would rather worship their Islamo Arab overlords than help their Christian cushitic brothers in Oromia who are starving. they would rather concern themselves with Arab politics than Cushitic problems.
