it doesn't make sense to me, Somali region of Ethiopia have been under Addis Ababa government for a century. Under Amhara rule, all ethnic languages were banned and Amharic were enforced all those years until 1990 when centralism was replaced by federalism.guhad122 wrote:Because the Ogaden in Jigjiga thinks his capital is Muqdisho, not Adis Ababa.Revolutionary wrote:How come Ogaden and other Ethiopian Somalis don't speak Amharic? Even though half of my family is from Ogadenia, anytime i need Amharic translation, I employ the services of our iidoor brother Awrastaale AKA Hawdiyan. All Amharic translators in Jigjiga are iidoor![]()

In Jigjiga University which is a federally funded university, there is an entire specialization in Somali culture where you learn great Somali history contirubters such as Abshir Bacadle and Cismaan Geedi Raage. In the Secessionist enclave, if you are not iidoor, you are excluded.
So, how did Ethiopian Somalis escape this and why they are the only few ethnic not to speak Amharic after living decades under Selassie and Mengistu?
