Lol whatever happens to the south your whole desert, will not produce what just afgooye produces!
After two weeks the GU will start and the river will flood again
The land is still green I have watched a video from yesterday where some farmers were asking us to contribute building roads in a frosty area
There is no somalia without lower shabelle but it has huge population and the majority of them depend on farming so when this thing happens it's normal that they will suffer the most just like you suffer the most when draught hits your livestock, the only thing you export!
Bay and bakool receive more annual rainfall than the rest of somalia (about 600m in baydhabo janaay) followed by some northern highlands
But hiiraan, mustaxiiil(ethiopia)and bakool r better bc we receive stronger dayr rains...in dayr 2014, there was non stop heaviy rains in 3 days, day and night....this happens between Oct and November and causes massive floods
http://reliefweb.int/map/somalia/somali ... ember-2012
In lower shabelle, and jubooyinka they receive less dayr rains so the GU is not enough for them to recover quickly when there r droughts

Sahal stop having mental breakdowns the el nino phenomenon has affected the weather pattern of the horn of africa, this has nothing to do with normal seasonal rain patterns and stop using outdated articles to prove a point because in your article it clearly states how some parts of north receives more rainfall than the south. I don't know why hawiyes always try to cover up everything but you have to live a little that's life, if next season rain don't come it could be diasterious hopefully good amount of rain falls insha allah

Aniga i dont post about somali people whereever they hail from in a negative way except from politics
But bc your insisting this I will show you the figures so take a look at that chart in the link below about SL climate change and compare it to the south!
As for hiiraan it's not natural disaster it's along the highway towns where al shabab imposed blockade but we have sorted out 60 percent by relying on nomadic roads where al shabaab cant dare to.....infact yesterday the tribes have invaded waxbo, their heartland in galgaduud (ceelbuur)
Two months ago they invaded aadan yabaal in middle shabeele. Al shabaab don't dare to enter baadiyatal hawadle without the presence of SNA
I'm good at three things: somali politics, somali culture and geography....look now i won this topic
http://www.somalinet.com/forums/viewtop ... 5#p3941923
As for the link you called an out dated source, baladweyne has scored most of the points(over 200mm)
Here is the last dayr; bardaale is in baay, around the borders with bakool followed by baledweyne and matabaan
http://reliefweb.int/report/somalia/som ... er-20-2015
North hiiraan and bakool r located in westren somalia (international borders), this region has strong dayr rains than the rest of somalia
We all get long rains in GU but the southren coastal area from xamar up to kismayo receives extra xagaa rains
Hargeysa and ceerigaabo r colder in jiilaalka(december) bc of their high altitude, both get 400m rainfall annually for the same reason but they lack natural water for the same reason!
...el ninio only causes for us more rains like in that famous year, 1997 when Saudi banned our livestock bc of a false report sent by then ethiopian agent ali geedi so the ethiopian livestock can get its way to Arabia
Geedi was working for some livestock NGO that was based in Addis ababa
Last year there were no floods and we had less rains than the year before, plus this jiilaal....that's why but we will recover in the coming GU inshallah

I'm out!
Kulaha, last year we had no floods that caused low rain fall, it the other way around.

You know this just a one month/year and it happens to be the driest
in SL duo to El Nino which turned positive to south Somalia. Sometimes you
have periods or drought and heavy rains like this. Bringing a single month as the rule of thumb is naive.
This is Oct 2015

This is Dec 2014

Look up the difference.

Re: Ethiopia Closed Shabelle river water going to Somalia
Are you folk really debating which region receives the most rain.....in an arid country?

Re: Ethiopia Closed Shabelle river water going to Somalia
Abu muran aniga iyo adiga ismans af naqaan iga qalee saxiboow
and the gang mentality continues!
I said " last year we had no floods and we have less rains"
I dont know how that means its the flood who causes the rain lol war anagaa wax aragnay!
Our river comes full from south eastern ethiopia in their kiremt season(dayr-julay-august)
Reaches us in october-November
Now in both our regions, there has been early cessation
So when the river reached us, it had less waters and bc of our short dayr it couldn't survive until the end
First it should flood in mustahil, then beledweyne and the jowhar
There were little floods in the ethiopian side
http://www.insidervoice.com/2015/10/27/ ... s-un-ocha/
Btw this happens once in every 3 decades
As for SL, the drought was caused by the scarse rainfall in the past GU and dayr seasons...hope it will recover in this coming GU season
