I dont blame the kids who see no future in Somaliland and would rather risk their lives rather than live a life of absolute midiocraty. A life where if your child is sick you can do nothing but watch them die. I really dont blame them.

I really hate what Somaliland has become. It is a country where Politicians (government and Opposition) spend millions every year on xaflads to welcome a few faaraxs and xalimos who have joined their shitty little parties while our people die from TB and Malaria due to a lack of medicine, money and doctors.

500 young men and women mainly from Togdheer,Sanaag and Hargeisa were dead and floating in the meditranean sea for 10 DAYS before our government and politicians even uttered a word. Compare that to Jamaal fighting Faysal for UCID or Muuse fighting Silanyo for Kulmiye. How many politicians (snakes) were lineing up infront of poor quality cameras to tell us all how upset they were.

Think about it these kids would rather risk dying at sea, being imprisoned in Libya or even worse getting carved open alive and having their organs taken than remain in Somaliland. If we assume that every one is scared of death and values their life then you can just imagine how hopeless these kids feel living in Somaliland.

We in the West won't really understand because we have everything we need.

My neice is 4 years old, she is beautiful, healthy and smart Masha"Allah. However, she was born with a massive hole in her heart which was discovered from an ultrasound scan taken when her mum was 20 weeks pregnant. She was operated on when she was month old and the hole repaired. She made a full recovery alxamdulilah. If she was born in Somaliland her mother would have had to watch her DIE slowly for 4 months before burying her. Just another of the thousands unexplained early childhood deaths in Somaliland.

I honestly dont blame them. Why would they want to stay in a place where they will not be able to work and provide for their families, why would they want to stay in a place where if they had kids they couldnt even get them medical treatment when needed.

I was in Hargeisa 3 times last year last time being November. I met a nice kid there who is now somewhere in Lybia. He had studied in China and got a topclass architecture degree. He had been back in Hargeisa for 2 years. He had tried every thing to get a job and got no where. In the end he worked in the interior ministry vulantarily (free) for 5 months with the idea of impressing them in order to earn a job. It worked because they gave him a paid job. When i was with him in November he had been working there for 3 months and still had not been paid (different excuse evey month). In the mean time the fat belly minister of that ministry earns over $5000 a month and what ever kick backs he can get.

Its an unfair and unjust society where the stars are fat belly mainly ex-benefit scrounger diaspora who earn vast sums to play billy big bollocks in a flawed political system which does ABSOLOUTLY nothing for its people. To the extent that kids would rather die than live there

Coming back to the topic, marka hore AHN dhalinyaradii meeshaa ku haligantay, it was a tragic and a shocking incident.
Secondly, since its very unlikely for Somali youth to stop migrating to the west, often going through dangerous journeys, why not give them basic information about safety, such as how to use swimming life jackets and where to buy from. Some swimming jackets are as cheap as £5 a jacket. With a proper jacket, at list, no one will die from drowning.

Because Somaliland has been part of somalia longer than not . Djibouti , Ethiopia k5 , NFD are gone for good . For 25 yrs now nobody will give Somaliland the international status it sought , maybe it is time to wake up . When the youngsters of Somaliland finish their schooling they want a job . An unrecognized tribal fiefdom cannot obviously give them the future they want for they would not try to get away from it to begin with .
A solution would be to find a better life for all the somalis in their country , not scramble a go fund account to buy them life jackets

Sahan sxb marka hore aflagaada jooji, Somaliland is not a tribal fiefdom. Its the only democracy in the region where people are, to a greater extent, free and can voice their options without fear.
Of course, I now we Somalilanders have some problems that need fixing, but uniting with the most failed state in the world is not a way to fix problems. Far from it. Anyone with common sense would know that.

You need short term solutions to save lives. Life jackets are the immediate solution. I agree in the long run we need to great decent jobs at home for the young people.
