Abdikarim,

You seem to be one of the least informed people.

Somalis have high birth but equally high birth deaths.

The population in SL for example has not past much the 3.5m where it was since 1991.

Do you know how much Erigabo grew?

You can access simple online apps/satellite pictures to see urbanization.

You need to read little bit more and increase your awares.

Btw the largest mosque in the Horn is in Mogadishu with a capacity of 10,000 worshippers.

There is no need for an empty mosque in an empty town.

You say I am unaware yet you make a statement like that.

Death rates are high (compared to the West) yet they are outstripped
by the very high Birth rates. This means an overall high growth rate.

All the statistics (despite the relative lack of clear demographics) point to this.

Mida kale there has not been a proper census since 1975, how do you know the population has been stagnant all that time?

Evidence (though the evidence is not the same calibre as a proper census) such as the growth of towns and cities over the last 25 years would point to the fact that the population
has not been stagnant (despite the heavy emigration of young people in recent years)

I am of the opinion that the population of SL has never been 3.5 million (based on anecdotal evidence and extrapolation from the 1975 census grant you) let alone 3.5 million in 1991.

I think it is 3-3.5 million today having risen from around 1.5 million in the early 90s.

SL has been at 3.5m last 20 years.

High birth rate cancelled by high maternal morality.

Hargeisa hasn't grown much. People just lost their nomadic livelihoods and decided to settle there. For example do you know how many people moved in affected by the last drought?

IDP need shelters first.

Erigabo hasn't grown more than 20 houses in the last decade.

Prove me wrong and show me actual numbers, satellite photos, etc.

I just know Abdikarim has Ethio notification app but nothing else.

AbdiApp ii bashaal dee empty town doesn't need empty mosque. It's called strategic development nothing personal kiddo.

Nobody has factual numbers but I would surprised if the population in SL would top 2 million today .

You make a series of statements (some of them quite implausible) and do not provide evidence and then you have the gall to ask
me to provide evidence.

I have already stated evidence is limited, some of it is anecdotal, some of it based on observation (on things such
as satellite images).

But they point to a rapid population growth over the last 25 years (I admit there is no proper evidence like a census).

Another piece of evidence is the 1975 Somalia census which points to a Somaliland population of around 1.5 million in the 1990 (I understand this is extrapolated).

I am limited by proper studies on demographics but the conclusions that I draw from them are reasonable (others may disagree).
But you make quite implausible statements (with no evidence mind you).

Not unreasonable.

I know I have said that I think SL's population is around 3-3.5 million.
But I would not be surprised if it is as low as that.

My Extrapolation did not take into account the wars and emigration after the 1975 census.

One more point Hawdian

I think you have an ideology which is hostile to Islam (in keeping with your Pro-Xabashi take on everything in life).
You will make everything fit (even if you have to make it up) in order to satisfy this ideology.

AbdiApp

Fair enough.

Btw are you from Erigabo ninyo?

I heard Reer Erigaabo helped Facebook with its notifications/alerts.

Btw Eri can only grow if Meydh port can go live and new roads are built.

I'm afraid this mosque might become like Burco Titanic that hit the boodh-berg.

AbdiApp educate yourself a little. Ethio has more Muslims than Somalia, Oman and Jordan combined. It too has more mosques.

You can't flip you fears into religion.

I'm a Muslim and pray 5 times. But what we are discussing is whether a mosque that size is necessary in a small sleeping and isolated town.

You haven't provided anything to support it ither share your usual Ethio-phobia.

Bigger isn't necessarily better.

Joseph,

Sxb you know Burao better than I do. If it has hundreds KUDOS to Burao.

Ethiopia has about 60,000 masjids. In Addis alone 250 of them call to prayer with Al Anwar being the largest near the famous Merkato market.

I doubt you can come even close to 1%.
