My grandmother fell ill from lack of blood few years back and doctors wanted to give blood, she consulted an Islamic scholar and he said she can't refuse because that means she would be risking her life and that itself is haram.

“…if any one killed a person, it would be as if he killed the whole of mankind; and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole of mankind…” - The Holy Quran (Chapter Five, Verse 32).

You guys are forgetting what Islam is all about which is mercy. It's a shame cos ur making the deen into something it isn't. Islam is beautiful and what you're saying isn't. Scholars aren't always right. Some scholars are pro-FGM. Are they right? The deen doesn't say don't use your own brain. You're making us like the Jehova's who don't take donated blood.
