I quite agree.

In any case one can always pursue their artistic inclinations in their own free time at first gradually going part time and then full time if you start making enough of it to provide a decent living.

What are the barriers to entry in your desired field? Do you even know what you want to do? Many of the guys you've mentioned had a long and arduous journey starting very young.

I have jumped ship a few times in the past and despite the transition being very difficult, even painful at times, I have not regretted it one bit, and as a result ended up doing work I really enjoy.

Dont compromise, but always do your due diligence and research the field you want to get into.
