Again, there's a clear difference between a relationship that happens naturally and grows organically and one where you specifically seek out an ajnabi spouse and openly state that you do NOT wish to even consider someone from your own background. I have zero problems with people marrying out. What I have a problem with is the second group of people (most of whom are women from my experience).

To me, this is nothing but a manifestation of a serious underlying issue: the self-hate in some of our youth and lack of appreciation for their culture. This is a serious problem

Something ain't right when we got reverts running through our women and divorcing them after they're done with them. Why do most of the so called 'marriage bandits' specifically target Somalis?

Most of the people who were commenting on that thread were not Somali. Ajnabi communities have noticed this phenomenon as well and wallahi it is embarrassing having to explain that these women do not represent the majority of our women!

Yes, a revert is my brother. But it does not mean that I am going to give him my daughter in marriage just because he happens to be Muslim! Are Somalis mushrikeen?! What kind of pathetic low standard is that? Being Muslim is a minimum requirement!! I will always prefer someone from my own culture, all else being equal.

Speaking for myself, when I was looking to get married I "dated" women from multiple backgrounds. Most of them were Somali, but I kept an open mind. That's not the same as running after ajnabis while disregarding my own! In the end, I chose a Somali sister and wallahi I doubt that I could've found something better in any other community.

The women I considered were Somali, Palestinian, Kurdish, white, etc.. There's a big difference between being open-minded when it comes to marriage and CHASING AFTER others and thus disregarding/humiliating your own people in the process. I have no problems with IR relationships. Self-hate is the issue.

There's also a recent phenomenon where men who are already married are specifically seeking out Somali women as second wives.. smh.. wallahi we keep taking major L's.. This is degrading on every level.

A Somali Muslima marrying a non-Somali Muslim man is the least of my worry. Some of the reverts are the best human beings that you can find amongst the Muslims. My take is the negative comment of one revert does not reflect the vast majority of new Muslims.

We should also understand that when people embrace Islam, and since we (Somalis) are part of the Muslim community, we should welcome them and help them in their journey. That means, we shouldn't be bothered by the dumb comments from few individuals, and if there are some Somali girls running to them, let them go for it. This is Internet and we can't stop people writing whatever they want. We also can't stop a woman running to marrying outside of the Somali community.

Finally, let us not forget that some, not many, Somali men fail their wives and children, and these girls have that baggage with them. Some of them are running away from certain aspects of our culture. Many young Somali men are also either in the gangs or in the prison system, and that translates to not enough Somali men for every Somali women in the diaspora. In addition, if a Somali Muslim man marries a new Muslima from other ethnic groups, it is not an issue, but if a Somali Muslim woman marries a Muslim brother from other ethnic groups, it is an issue in our community. Many of these Somali women who marries non-Somali Muslim men see that as a double standard and misogyny in the Somali community. Perhaps, even handedness and fairness to both genders is what can reduce the trend. On my end, a new Muslim/Muslima are my brrother/sister in faith. I would do everything I can to help them in the Somali and the larger Muslim community.

Even these revert brothers have noticed the trend. These guys are discussing a group of white "marriage bandits" who prey on thirsty Somali sisters. Smh.. You guys can keep burying your heads in the sand, but this is a serious issue. I haven't bashed Somali women in general so I don't know why some of you are getting defensive. My posts have been thoughtful and nuanced.

It is our society, the dynamic that exist between women and men is becoming toxic, there is a battle, men aren't on the top anymore.
The dynamic that exist between Somali men is toxic, we are highly competitive, the dynamic that exist between a non-somali man and a somali man, is also that of a submissive nature.

This wasn't always the case, somali men use to be intelligent, masculine and brave, our women use to laugh at other men and look down on them.

In a free society, everyone is entitled to marry whoever he/she wants.
Why should anyone disapprove a marriage (hallal between two Muslims) while gazillion Somalis are f'ing like rabbits without marriage. Besides, do these girls give a hoot whether we approve them or not.

Let me tell you something . I find anybody talking about a woman as it were a property to defend very backward. If you look at it the somalis are a particular race of monkeys . In Africa over the years the only way he somalis have maintained their features is by regulating the sexuality of their women. Just go look around the internet and you will find black guys and white guys bragging about white and black females. They even have names for it, jungle fever, yellow fever, snow bunny chasing etc etc

No this things only happens in the Somali community, this is so rampant , so strange , so encouraged and so bizarre how the Somali womanhood hit an all time bottom low. The strange part is their family, Mullhas , community encourage their "Islamic pimping" , its a fakken just pure cultural destruction.
