Why didn't the Somalis expand to other parts of Africa and annex them?

Somalis nearly conquered all of Ethiopia, before Axmed Gurey was shot by a Portuguese musketeer and his army collapsed.

Seeing how Somalis are treated nowadays infuriates me, we should have annexed and ruled over these barbaric jareer folks.

We give them diplomatic help and they repay us with deaths.

They were better under the control of the Europeans.
