Yes, it worthed the risk. Anything was better than staying in East Leigh while not having huge capital. Back them the Kenyan police's round up of Somalis were very bad.

Just fill out the application. It goes by citizenship not location. If they are lucky, they will present the documents to verify that they meet the criteria: education, finances, and clean police record. The one that is the hardest is the finances. They will look at several years of bank statements and that better check out.
Gegiroor ... Lucky fellow.... Lots got detained in Colombia and languish in camps near Cartagena, Bogota. The worst country is Old Mexico. They have zero tolerance for migration. The best is Nicaragua. They grant asylum and citizenship after 5 years. Daniel Ortega is a true G. Guatemala is not too bad either.

Do you have a sponsor here in the US who can fill out an I-134 form because you need one in order to show the person in question won't be a burden to the state because the government won't help you at all in the first three years . That is why the Job occupation you choose is important even haday been tahay because you need to be able to show you can find a job quickly and support yourself as soon as you land here so you can forget being chosen if you put some sob story about being a refugee or a Jaad seller.
Occupations that qualify, you will likely need to prove this somehow too.

This is how my father and uncles came in the late 80s and early 90s while they worked outside of Somalia. Can't say what Jobs they held or what country they lived in but it was enough for them to qualify and get in, and find work within the first 6 months they got here. They got sponsored by the tol who were already here.

Yeah if I submit their true details, it will be easier for them to source all the supporting documents. for example one guy educated in Burao, he got Somaliland Secondary and university certificates, he has been working for the State Road development agency for the last 4 years , So he can provide real bank statement and prove of permanent work. He can also take a clearance letter from the Somaliland CID department. I don't know if US immigration can accept Somaliland official documents but if they don't its easier to obtain alternative documents from the SFG directly or illegally . Do think this is working ?AbdiWahab252 wrote:Just fill out the application. It goes by citizenship not location. Thanks bro, Yes There are many who can sponsor these guys in america. Most of these guys I want to put into this lottery are already working for the government. So Proving their occupation background or skills and sourcing supporting documents is not their cup of tea even if it requires. high profile signatures . I am not wasting my time on Some xayramin folks who will struggle to prove any thing .Lancer wrote:Do you have a sponsor here in the US who can fill out an I-134 form because you need one in order to show the person in question won't be a burden to the state because the government won't help you at all in the first three years . These guys have less or no access to Djiboutian passport , but yes they can obtain Ethiopian one. how ever their educational qualifications and their Work history won't match their Ethiopian citizenship. i mean they can bring Ethiopian passport but can't bring any prove of their activities in Ethiopia, that's the problem.Jabuutawi wrote:I know of two people one of whom is my cousin that came to America by way of the Diversity Lottery. He lived in Egypt and applied via what was allotted to Djibouti since he declared he was a Djiboutian.
Personally, I believe they would have better chance declaring themselves as Djiboutians assuming they can get Djiboutian laissez-passer, passport or any other document as proof of residency in the said country. They would also have to show that they, at minimum, have a high school degree and have worked in the last 2 out of 5 years.
It is also worth noting that an American address/phone/name/income qualification is required lest the lottery winner becomes ward of the State.

Below is the number of winners for each country. Somalia had only 275, most likely because few people applied with Somalia as their country of birth. This was for the DV-2015. There were about 10 million applicants for that year. Only 50, 000 can be granted visas for this lottery each year. Chances of winning for that year was 0.005% (or 1 winner for every 200 applications).

Yusuf, yep this is more plausible than having Ethiopian citizenship and zero history of evidence of living and working in Ethiopia. He can also source a Somali passport much easier than an Ethiopian one.theyuusuf143 wrote:Yeah if I submit their true details, it will be easier for them to source all the supporting documents. for example one guy educated in Burao, he got Somaliland Secondary and university certificates, he has been working for the State Road development agency for the last 4 years , So he can provide real bank statement and prove of permanent work.
