If not, then your argument still makes no sense. You do not "buy" a wife in marriage. The mahr is not the price of the woman, it's a safety net for the woman in case you divorce her. Your providing for her and your children is not to "acquire her services", it's to cover her basic needs so that she can focus on her duties (raising children and taking care of the home). It's delegation sxb, you have certain responsibilities that are in line with your nature as a man (hunter, protector etc) and the same is true for her (nurturer, carer etc).

The point is there is a transaction involved in everything whether you see it that way or not.
