Awale I agree,
But this thread was a hypothetical exercise on armed forces.

I am a pacifist too, war should always be the last resort.

In the horn of Africa, light infantry with heavy firepower is key. That includes antitank stingers and surface-to-air missile defence. Manoeuvrability is the deciding factor in a war in the horn. Which mean ditch tanks and heavy artillery in favour of technicals mounted with mortars and machine guns.

Technicals are manoeuvrable but vulnerable to artillery, even heavy machine guns.
Weapons are tools each one is used differently.
Technicals should be used like how light cavalry was used, for reconnaissance, and raiding and ambushes.

Tanks are for smashing into formations and opening them up, you can use other tools but this is what they are meant for.

Same with artillery.

Drones are so cheap and capable now, imagine what you can do with off the shelf drones, a secure datalink.
You can accurately hit targets 10 to 20 km away with weapons already in the hands of Somali millititas today.
You can already be more accurate than Kenyan or Ethiopian troops with some artillery, drones with a datalink, and a mobile app that does all the complicated equations fir targeting. Meaning all you need literate people to man the artillery.

now, with a govt supported by the people we can have the momentum to defeat these insurgents. hopefully after this govt shows its reduction of corruption and an increase in competence the arms embargo can be partially lifted once more and then maybe even fully lifted in the future.

after the lifting of the arms embargo and the various training of somali soldiers overseas, we can defeat AS without amisom. we would only need assistances in the form of us airstrikes from fighter jets and drones.

also, countries like iraq and afghanistan benefited from the humvees they were given. we need small, mobile armored vehicles. in our case, we would need to make several orders of mamba and casspir apc's for our army.

we also need several army posts like this throughout the country that are similar to the idf outposts:

Humvees?
Are you serious they are a death trap wholly unsuited for any purpose.
They are responsible for the deaths of a majority of US soldiers in Iraq.
If you are a corrupt Somali official and you sell off the Humvees given to the Somali army and deposit the money offshore into your account.
You will be a hero who has saved so many lives.
