Is the map by R.H.Smith or that dude who did the Somaliland administrative census from late 1940s?Ben Dover wrote: Thu Feb 02, 2017 12:55 pmI do not have a better version at the moment I am afraid, the original is kept by one of my uncles. I can get a high res version next time I am up. Though I am sure there is a clearer version that I posted in the IPG a few years ago now, I will need to check if it is still there. I even did an overlay with boundaries between clans and such.kanadiid90 wrote: Thu Feb 02, 2017 9:58 am
that map looks interesting but sadly it aint clear, could you pls upload a larger version of it
Its very interesting, it basically lists all the reers of Somaliland and where they live.
If anyone finds it in the IPG please do not post high res version publicly, shit like that should stay in the IPG.

Wardheer is reer biicidyahan and reer khalaf degaan, dont claim others land or u might get shot waaryaheeX.Playa wrote: Thu Feb 02, 2017 10:26 pmThe map above is Afweyne CIA map from the seventies , notice how reer Biciidyahan is featured as though they are some giants , reer Biicdyahan don't even deserve to be put into that map , and what exactly they are doing in H.Y wardheer region?? , and why the line is pushed so far west that even Shimbiris is added to Daarood factious land and along Ceerigaabo lool , notice how Mareexeen were given the entire region of Jubland along the Ogadeen completely denuding entire clans of their ancestral land.Ben Dover wrote: Thu Feb 02, 2017 5:38 am The most accurate map of Somaliland's tribes is the one used by the British Somaliland Camel Corps, they mapped all of Somaliland's tribes on a sub sub sub clan level, basically dia paying groups. I believe it took a few years to finish because they had to travel to every village and document which subclan lived there. This is how they maintained peace between quarreling subclans and how they knew where each subclan resides. It is very accurate.
Everything else is pure guesswork. Which is why my hometown in is added to Puntland in the map above.

Re: Somali Maps
I am not entirely sure runtii, but was told this is what the Camel Corps used to police British Somaliland. They used it to travel inside SL and identify clan territories and where different families live, the guy who made it traveled from hamlet to hamlet which is why it is very accurate, and also why it took so long to finish.X.Playa wrote: Thu Feb 02, 2017 10:29 pm

^ lol somaha.
I just want to know who can map roads, territories and populations correctly.
Qabiil mapping is relevant because some drivers have an easier time through certain areas.
Galkacyo being separated into two states is frustrating for me.
Kismayo being inaccessible because of security risks (how ever minimal they may be).
Somalia sucks lol

Re: Somali Maps
Somali maps, population, wealth, data etc are all based on pure fiction, an active imagination of a big belly odey through clan lenses. If the real truth came out today, half these people online who waste their time debating about that nonsense would be clinically diagnosed with severe depression.
