Ever the idealist.

Somalis are not suited for representative government even if there was a credible sovereign state. Save your diaspora taxes for retirement and care home bills.
Somalia is my retirement and pre-retirement. Stop being a sell out
Even if there was peace, I would find it hard to live there because of my conscience. I really do not know how diaspora folk can go back home, live it up whilst seeing their distant relatives and the general public struggle to make ends meet. As a result of urbanisation, we are losing the only good attribute that our nomadic society had; looking after those less fortunate than you in times of need.

I hope the great HSM returns because we need you to keep punishing the darood donkeys who think they can rule Somalia again to wage wars across into other countries. Only Hawiye can rule Somalia and Ethiopians should support honest Hawiyes, they fierce fighters but they are honest.

I'm really going to miss this pro-Ethiopia administration and hope to see a return of it, go to hell anti-Ethiopia daroods, your door is closed.......... :D :D :D

The only Hawiye who can keep Somalia united and we Ethiopians are willing to work with, bless you with another 4 years.

Rumor has it Sharif Sheik Ahmed is the next guy. Not sure how my sources got that info in advance, but they are 90% sure. I really don't think it would make any difference who the next president is as long as they work towards improving things even a little better. But my concern is, if that rumor turns out to be correct before the votes were even cast, that corruption is worse than I thought. Let's wait and see what happens next.

I remember how last election I was up at night watching, the whole family together, excited to see change and progress. I remember the relief and euphoria of HSM being elected. Someone that was a native, well-educated, a professor, and one who served and gave back to his community. HSM was as good as it can get in Somalia. And yet, what a total disaster of a presidency. Total ineptitude in governance. Rampant corruption. Failed security. Almost no gains against Al Shabab. Unnecessary Political crises.

I don't blame HSM. The system is designed not to work. You can't get better than HSM. This is just a waste of time! Now, I could careless who becomes president or pm, or how the election goes.

The only silver lining would be a Marexaan President or PM. But even that is just an empty victory. What good is being the captain of a sinking ship?

You all forgot one thing....the country is divided into semi-sovereign states. The Mogadishu-based administration will have zero control over the domestic and foreign relations of Somaliland State, Puntland State and Jubbaland State. That's roughly 85% of what is known as Somalia.

And yet you still after the remaining 15% including Galmudug which you are adamant is yours. Pure stinginess!

The entire process is a sham. How can there be credible elections in a state that only exists on paper and has no authority over it's sovereign territory? People Calcal about Amisom and Western donors but if they leave Somalis to their own devices, Al Kebab will be decapitating skinnies from Ras Kambooni to Zeila.
