There is a reason why Farmaajo is held as a hope, whether you acknowledge it or not. The former president that you dont claim to praise failed to even pay the soldiers. Corruption might be your middle name but its not mine and to be fair, its not wrong to denounce HSM as thug, he didnt exactly prove otherwise. I hope Farmaajo can live up to the public expection.

You are probably not understanding my point; or even worse do not want to understand.
I do not judge a somali politician on his "history" and on a "few positive episodes" here and there. It is what he does when he is at the helm.
I will retrieve this in say 2-3 years. If Farmaajo brings our nation/people out of decades of darkness, I will be the first to endorse him. HSM was our "darling" when he was selected; so was almsot every "president".
You see, our people, are ungovernable ; the challenges we face cannot be met with a change of a president.
it is too early to compare Farmaajo to other presidents- but I assure you one thing; he will be faced with the same problems as others before him. Abject poverty of the brain, endemic corruption and the love of political positions is our main problem.

Re: HSM; the man who tried to restore our dignity
He revamped Villa Somalia, it actually looks like a State House. Protocolka are professional. HSM and his protocol staff used to use appointment scheduling app to pencil in whoever he is meeting. No one pops in for a visit.
Re: HSM; the man who tried to restore our dignity
I have hope. I think this time will be different if for no other reason than Farmaajo has more to prove
That said he will have to select a PM and then there will be ministers and those who don't get a seat will become mucarad by default. Mucarad against policies would be great, to hold the government accountable is what you are supposed to do as the opposition lakin to qooto qooto MPs and politicians mucarad means sabotage and we've seen that over and over
The one thing I can't stand though is that he has US citizenship
I hope he's planning to give that up

10 years away from Social Security and Medicare. He ain't giving that up.

He paid the troops the only man to do since december 1990. He was corroption free as a pm and most important tried to make Somalis have the control of Somalia. He has a good cv and shown his worth when he had less power as a pm. He was fired by Amisom in 2011 for being too Nationalistic.

Somalia is a UN colony basically and run by international organizations... bankrolled by the US/UK/EU and some of the Gulf monarchies.
The AU is receiving hundreds of millions annually to keep a force there and its 10 years running. Imagine if $400M per year went to building a Somali Army?

There is no sovereignty. The system is corrupt and ironically the underdog won despite that. It is nice to see but the same system will bury Farmaajo if he falls out of line trying to bring back nationalist fervor and independence back to Somalia.
Besides building an army and relieving the poor drought stricken starving population, he has a very small window to do anything of consequence.
The wildcard though is he has mass support... which cuts across the clan lines and if you have the masses maybe you can be revolutionary.
But its Somalia. Shid like that is not supposed to happen. So business will continue as usual in a few months. The same opposition will come. The same crappy parliament. A PM who will be scapegoated.
And the beat goes on

Re: HSM; the man who tried to restore our dignity
HSM was one of the most corrupt leader Somalia ever had, though he had some genuine care for the Somali people. He was like a father stealing from his childrens inheritance money. He had the fatherly care but he was just a thief at the same time.
I mean it ain't rocket science to admit defeat, plus Somalia ain't in the luxurious momentum where a incumbent leader can object a presidential election like those other African leaders. There were millions of people watching the election on TV/Internet and there is the presences of local and international observers. HSM had no option but to admit defeat, his breadcrumbs are paid by these same international observers. Beggars can't be choosers. So in all honesty, there is no credit to give him. I actually prefer Sheik Shariff more than him.

However, We have seen this before; it is the same vicious circle; people crave for change, get a new guy, honeymoon and then it is the same old story; infighting, claiming corruption etc

That is the point Fah. Many members of these boards and many somalis do not understand the elephant in the room.
Somalia is poor. Its internal revenue = fraction of the total. It depends on foreign aid. Amison's business model is simple; their soldiers get paid, trained and are kept overseas. Who pays the money? the international community.
Is Farmaajo brave eneough to ask Kenya and Ethiopia to pack their bags and leave?
Would he able to convince the EU/USA to bankroll the somali army instead of Amison?
And more importantly, will he kill the 4,5 formula, dismantle the lalalands etc?
If he does that he stands a chance. If he fails as HSM did, then it is back to square one

XSM was the best thing to happen to Somalia to date. He has done his part and is handing over the baton. Even in his defeat he has shown that the system has worked. Let's give Farmaajo a chance and learn to stop crying corruption without any evidence (what you are doing now to XSM others will do to Farmaajo). It cheapens the whole notion of accountability waayo qof walba haddi farta lagu fiiqo without evidence the genuine cases of corruption get lost in the noise

Sheikh Dalxiis had his many flaws, but he was less of a yes man that HSM when it comes to international community.
No we should continue pointing fingers and whistle blow any corrupt leader or corrupt conducts by any person in the government. That is one of the reason for the revolution that happened on the 8th of February. The parliament have grown conscious due to the constant public cry against corruption and corrupt leaders. We need to continue this culture, this is something we Somalis have learnt from being abroad for the last 26 years of so. This anti-corruption speeches and outcry is something amazing us Somalis have gained and we should continue it. This will scare any future leaders including Farmaajo from doing any corrupt conduct.
Wax la qariyo faai'do malaha, the louder the people the better.

Corruption is in the blood of all humans. Lying is one form of corruption, so is stealing. People lie, steal or do many deviant things in this world hence this world is a test from God and nobody is perfect.Lamagoodle wrote: Sat Feb 11, 2017 11:20 pm

However there are conscious people and unconscious people, by that I mean. Certain leaders have bigger visions and empathy for their people than others. So albeit the corruption some politicians will achieve more for their country than others even tho they all will walk on corruption one way or another.
Yes, our current government is on a lifeline through the international community. However that ain't the end of the world, a smart politician with the right leadership and management skills can use that as an advantage until his/her government can walk on his own feet. Whereas a dumb politician will only look at short-term goals such as milking the system. Beggars can't be choosers, true. But beggars can lead and manage the little donations they can get for the long haul goals, that is the difference between Farmaajo and the past leaders we had since 2004. Hence why many Somalis have high hopes for this guy, and they rightly should.
