What you Crying about you pay roughly 0.73p /litre in gbp currency

I pay 1.98 CD /litre :comeon:

Marka sxb wait for that surge price :umad:
$2/litre :whew:

There's two things you have to consider. Cars in Europe are much smaller and more fuel efficient than the ones in North America. You can't compare your 1.0L Micra to a 2.5L Camry. Secondly, things are a lot closer to each other in the U.K. than Canada. My house to school/work is 20 miles one way :tocry:

Well, is the ATF clean? Is it dark in color? What kind of car is it? Make and model year? With transmissions it depends on the moving parts wearing out but at 100k it is still good. You may want to pull the DTC codes to see if there are any underlying issues

zidane88 wrote: Tue Apr 18, 2017 4:23 am I don't know what Americans call it "transmission" but here is some facts:
If the car have high mileage as you told us, change the Engine oil, oil filter, fuel filter, and air filter. check brake pads and brake discs as well.
If I am not mistaken, transmission is Gearbox , if so, don't bother changing it.

Zidane, yes transmission is gearbox. I see you agree with the mechanic. The look of the fluid is what bothered me. I went to youtube and saw another mechanic explaining it. His advice is: First lift the car up, drain the fluid, take the whole transmission/gearbox down, open it up and take it apart. If it was engine, I would follow his guidance, but taking whole transmission/gearbox apart? I never did it and but at least I'll try to lift it up and drain the fluid. I learned transmission flush is never good for transmission parts, especially when the car is older.
Gegi, don't try to change it by yourself. It needs special gadget and mechanic to put the oil into the gearbox, you can't put it by hand.

Gegigoor... don't ever flush, drain and fill using oem fluids is all you need. You can get good deals online. Rinse and repeat twice to get it all out if you drain and refill

Zidane and A/Wahhaab,

Advice taken. I'll not flush it but take it to a mechanic to drain it and refill it twice to get the dirt out without flushing it. The color is getting darker. So will do as suggested. Thanks!

Gegi what is the make of the car? Stay away from Nissan and Honda both have terrible automatic transmission because of CVT. Toyota seems to have a solid transmission technology

I can vouch for Nissan Altima hybrid as a solid car, but you're right, Toyota is a workhorse.
