I know. But If they play their cards right with what they are proposing these guys can easily dominate the market. Dr Osman has worked in the World bank forever and has a lots of connects in Somaliland. This team is not just business minded individuals but scientists and engineers.

This is a great opportunity but i agree, it's always important to know what you're getting into as far as expectations.

After going to their site and reading their plan and proposals, somehow the saying "the road to hell is based with good intentions!" Popped to my mind!

And here is some points that I thought might be worth concidering after my visit to the company's website:

No doubt it's good idea and has potentials in the long run. But the guys are only selling an idea a vission and for not so little amount of $10 million USD (/3 of it through shares the rest they don't say). Each share worths $250.

They have NO factory, machinery and equipment , vehicles, workers/labourers etc ... Except on paper.
They have not shown the details of market research and feasibility studies which they apparently have carried out to the prospective investors. They only provided assumptions and vague statistics with no sources e.g. The UN and other aid organisations being likely customers they don't say whether they have contacted any of the organisations and what the response was if any.

They have not provided any information about their experiences in this line of business or in Production (whether worked in a flour mill or in any other capacity for a flour producing/distribution company). All the individuals seems have never worked directly in this industry at all according to their educational, professional training and experiences profile.
They all are well educated and experienced and have business credentials (But Not in this field/industry or in production or manufacturing of goods ).

They seem to be selling the shares of the company based on emotions as much as on the business benefits and potential profits. Why????
They kept on mentioning more than a dozen times how it will help the local regional communities and that it will help and economic development. They say also mentioned how they will help mal nutritioned children, empower women especially in rural areas. They also said that this project will help reduce and stop foreign food being flooded to the country.
The tone and the repeating of these points made look like they were an NGO or part of such organisation
Though these points are important and they must be respected for thinking about them but is not a selling point. they should be appealing and concentrating on getting the investments by trying to convince investors the bottom line of the business which is Profits. With evidence and clarity.

I respect the guys but you can't be just selling an idea on a paper for $10 million USD no matter how good it sounds. They must first build the company the plant with the capital they already have (I am assuming they have some if not they having a laugh ) and then would be able to show a tangible business therefore higher much much higher chance of attracting investors and getting in investments.

And when talking about the short coming and risk of the investment they mentioned two things: 1 the security and political situation of the region and 2 the proplem of corruption in the region.
I might take a risk on the security situation but mentioning the risk of corruption while trying to release of my hard earned cash, red flag raised and put me off of investing.

The business is still in early days and may have not yet paid dividends but that doesn't mean they scammed anyone or lost any money.

It also depends on terms of return and it's not compulsory for businesses to pay dividends if they feel they need to first cover operating cost.

Dividends are paid on net profit.

Businesses need at least 3-5 years unless it's in a speculative industry with quicker turn around, higher risk, higher rewards, etc.

Unfortunately most Somali investment schemes are scams.
PS I am not suggesting these guys are scammers.
