Anyone else go through the baby face predicament? You looked too young for the girls your age and now they look too old for their age.

I went through it. I had a baby face 1-2 years back. Now my face is much leaner and more defined. Where my jawline and cheekbones are visible. I don't look older for my age tho. Whenever i shave my beard i look considerably younger, it so noticeable that people always comment on it.NoThatAbdi wrote: Sat Jun 24, 2017 2:15 pm Anyone else go through the baby face predicament? I used to always complain about how my baby face was bothersome and chicks didn't take me seriously beyond looking at me as a cute little puppy. Now its different girls think i'm hot and i've gotten hit on several times at my uni. Not that i am bragging or anything. Point being i and many others are an example of what a transition from baby face to chiseled face should be like.
If you have transitioned from a baby face to looking like an old geezer. Then thats not natural and has probably a lot to do with your health. Your health believe or not is interlinked with your nutritional choices. Beauty is from the inside and out. Your hair and face is parameter of what's going on inside your body.
Just like the picture of the 14 year old fob i posted and the brief story about my cousin's physical degeneration. It is more likely you suffer from the same thing. It's all due to the high glycemix refined carbohydrate and sugar diet we Somalis eat. What it does is create systemic inflammation in our bodies by increasing the blood sugar. It creates insulin spikes and unbalanced hormonal levels. This is what is the main cause of premature balding, receding hairline and skin deterioration in young Somali males our age.
If you want to improve your Hair and face. Also reverse aging skin and hair loss. I suggest you start a Paleo diet mainly consisting of meat, fats vegetables and fruits.
Meanwhile take a look at this video.

Are you Somaliland or Somalia? Have you seen how the Nomads look? I assure they do not look like that gorgeous afar man you posted. Most are thin, like unbelievably thin with bad skin and bad teeth. The teeth because they all grew up on white sugar. They come into the cities to buy garbage and basically eat like the rest of the city folk. The afar are still holding on to their old ways and should never be compared to the Somalis who are running away from theirs.
And there's nothing wrong with that young man who's pic you posted...he doesnt look old he just happens to be unattractive by Somali standards.
As far as diet i think it should consist of more veggies then meat, tho i agree and think meat should be part of our diet. But if you live in America, unless you can afford organic meat who arent full of hormones i'd say lessen your meat intake. Here meat is fine but people here lead sedentary lifestyle where they never work out, walk or do anything physical. Come to hargeisa and i assure you one of the first things you'll note is the gut and pot belly all these seemingly youngish men have.
We need a Somali cultural and social revolution that isnt connected to urbanization because apparently fatness here and having a caalol is a sign of prosperity. Urban revolution is what''s causing all this ugliness.
Our genetics are cursed tho because we have deviated so far from our ancestral and traditional ways.

So i was watching an old episode of the Simpsons and i had an epiphany.
Why do Somali men like white women age terribly after 30? I mean you would think with all that melanin they would be perfectly preserved like their fellow somali women. Yes Somali women have a secret fat gene no denying that. Somali women spread faster than a rumor after giving birth but Somali men in general age faster than they should. Is this a recent phenomenon? Is there a collective thyroid problem we're not aware of? I noticed my cousin and his friends who are around 30-32 suddenly have jacked up hairlines, bad skin and pot bellies. It wasnt always like this. These men were fine just 5 years ago. I used to crush on some of his friends ..now im like gross adeero please wear a shirt that fits, your belly is hanging out. Enjoy your youth boys, you literally have DAYS left.
I thought maybe the ones here in the motherland would be different since they have access to organic food and fresh milk but nah.
Modernity might be erasing what's left of our culture and traditions but more importantly it's jacking up hairlines and teeth.
Your metabolism which is the rate your body burns calories slows down after 25, so these guys are already in decline and the only way they can avoid sagging and being fat with a big belly is to exercise and build muscle something city slicker Somalis don't do. Building muscle is not really that difficult, it's just cutting down on carbs and eating more proteins and exercising. There are many Somalis men who are soft that you sometimes think they hate protein, I've seen some of them get injured and have trouble healing because they didn't consume enough protein. There are also other factors that can affect your metabolism such as consuming to much Qat, or smoking or drinking too much alcohol but I think lack of protein and exercise are the important factors and not these addictions.
So, we should all exercise and eat more protein otherwise the sagging is a clip away

I know another poster mentioned this but he said it in jest...i really do think there's a genetic curse at play here.

This isn't just an issue facing Somali men you know. Somali women look god damn awful after pregnancy and pass the age 30. Some try to compensate for it with diana creams and make up. Whereas other try to hide their imperfections with their hijab. The physical degeneration and aging is observable in both genders and often times this degeneration happens also before the age 30, sometimes in their 20s and late teens.
Needless to say. I and many others have observed the same thing. It has nothing to do with Somali genetics and everything to do with the modern Somali diet. Yes this is a recent phenomena that didn't exist before.
The first time i noticed this was with my cousin who lives in an Arab country ( which i shall not name). He was at the time 1 year and half younger than i was in his teens yet he visibly look like an overweight balding odeey, with terrible skin tone rinkles , pimples in contrast to me who looked like a pre-pubescent kid at the time. The contrast between us was not the shocking part, the shocking part came when he showed me a portrait photo of himself 1-2 years prior . In that photo his hairline was intact, his skin was so radiant and flawless. He looked like he was photoshoped, not making this up he was that beautiful (no homo). After seeing that, I was like what the fudge happened to you?
This isn't an isolated thing. I have gone back to the facebook photos of several of the good looking Somali males i grew up with, they look much worse in contrast to what they did in their early teens.
The problem is that Somalis eat too much high glycemic foods (Processed Foods) that raise your blood sugar, such as products containing gluten, flour and sugar(white rice, pasta, canjeroo, malawax ,sambusa, bread, Halwa, tea etc), because of that we create systemic inflammation in our bodies. Inflammation leads to many illnesses, including joint disease, cancer, hair loss, skin eruptions like acne, heart disease, inflammatory bowel disease, Alzheimer's Disease, even multiple sclerosis and lupus.
chronic inflammation caused by diet is usually what is causing receding hairline and premature balding in many Somali males in the diaspora.
How do you know this is linked to the modern Somali diet, you may ask?. Well one key thing that informs me of it and is the observable difference in the appearance between that of Reer Badiyoo/miyii(Country side) Somalis and Reer magaal (City dwellers) Somalis in Somalia.
The Reer Badiyoo Somalis typically have an active lifestyle and a diet that is high in fat and protein lead. Their diet consist of dairy (Camel milk) and meat (goats and camel). As result they look physically 10 times better than the city dwellers who eat sugar, gluten flour carb lead diet.
Reer Badiyoo Somalis typically have whiter straighter teeth, better bone structure, zero hair loss, better skin, Taller and lean but more built than their Reer Magaal counterparts who on the other hand showcase various facial deformities, stunted growth, Hair loss, skin problems, stained buckteeth etc..
I can illustrate this with a couple of examples of Somali nomads. One is a pic of a youth likely in his teens and another is a pic of a grandpa in his 80s.
-Here you can see this old nomad looks 10 times better than the common diaspora male. He has perfect child like hairline, smooth free complexion, Great facial structure with high prominent cheek bones and proper jawline.
-Here you have an example of young male nomad. I picked this to highlight the general dental health of the regular Reer badiyoo which is straight white well made teeth free of decay in contrast to the regular city dwellers who have buckteeth ,gap teeth, stained caramel teeth riddled with decay.
All of this is due the difference in hygienes & sanitation, lifestyle and nutrition.
You can also test this out for yourself by visiting Somalis who have grown up in the countryside as nomads. You will see the striking physical difference i pointed out.
Also i came up to this conclusion after reading the book called ''Nutrition and physical degeneration'' http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5443 ... generation. Which is a great book that highlights the phenomena you have witnessed amongst Somalis. This book documents several pre-modern groups that lived on natural organic foods on how their health and physique degenerated after being exposed to a modern diet based on flour and sugar(Processed food).
The funny part behind all of this is that 3-4 decades back in time, we used to be stereotyped for our well made teeth, our height, our smooth skin, great bone structure and our thick head of hair. Now we are identified for the exact opposite which is very telling. This is also part of the reason why today we are both stereotyped as ugly and beautiful people at the same time. One thing is for certain Barkhad Abdi isn't an unfortunate ugly accident he is a creation of the modern Somali diet.
The hopeful part is that with a correct anti-inflammatory diet you can reverse your hair loss and skin issues within months, and with conscious correct dieting we can correct the appearance of the upcoming generations after ,so we can pass on to them the best of genetics and we can facilitate to the betterment of their growth and development.
The loopside of it all is that nothing can be done for the Somalis who got screwed by their unhealthy parents who passed on bad genes and for Somalis who went through poor childhood and adolescent development due to the low caloric pasta and rice diet. No luck for them as they are stuck with their ugly face full of deformities. Just make sure your children and grand children don't suffer the same faith by rejecting shitty dietary habits and by eating healthy proteins& fat and organic food.

I do think the modern nomad, well first of all he's becoming extinct, second the ones now, not the older generation like the men in your post but the younger ones are consuming the exact same diet as the average city Somali. Young Somali nomads do not look that handsome boy in the pic. That dude is dreamy these guys?? not so much. They may be thinner then the average city dweller but they still have bad teeth and bad skin. This is recent and exclusive to the younger generation
My uncle has a small farm outside of arbsiyo and he 's pushing 80 but he looks good, sturdy with still all his teeth and the most unbelievable skin. He's younger sons on the other hand...
They often come in to the city and they eat processed food and all have aspirations to leave the farm life and live in the city.
The diet of the mother is also important and like you said a lot of women are raising their kids on processed foods and caano nido (soy) and other unhealthy foods. There are young children with brown teeth because the mother would rather feed her kids sugary water instead of real authentic and organic juices like they used to. I noticed that especially here in hargeisa. People add sugar to everything and real milk is either hard to find or more expensive so people use soy milk which is disgusting and was never part of our old somali diet.
You need to look at class too. I found out the higher the class/income the more unhealthy the diet. Which is mind-blowing and the complete opposite in the west. People here especially the women actually go out of their way to eat processed food just because they can and it's a reflection of their status in society.
This is why i brought up modernity. Somali society is currently undergoing something akin to the Industrial Revolution in europe. They went from being rural and agrarian to urban which brought on a lot changes to their societal structure and even physical attributes. After this transition period hopefully we'll find a way to balance our old ways with our new ways like they have.

Skin quality wise at the same age, women is 15 years her senior compared to her male counterpart, and no one ages better than black men. They are men and have dark skin, which is the golden ticket to aging.
But you right about Somali men, too many let themselves go in their 30s while Somali women are looked and image obsessed until they leave this earth. For a male, your 30s should be your peak physical years if you live you life correctly. Somali men don't understand what they have been blessed with. Look at Black men like Jalen Rose, Lazyie Bone, Nelly, Hodgetwins, Michael Jai White, Shannon Sharpe,Tyson Beckford and many more who look good, fit, healthy well into their 40s

The answer is the latter its obvious to see. Google paleolithic diet and explore it for yourself.
I have seen how they look ,especially those who live on traditional diet composed of camel, goat meat, raw milk and fat. But i am familiar with the ''Fake'' nomads in Somaliland who go into the inner cities to buy sugar and baasto iyo bariis, and drink the contaminated water that makes their teeth caramel brown along with drinkingtea. What I am talking about are real Geeljire's who live traditionally they look more like that Afar man. Somalis who live on their traditional diet thrive on it.Have you seen how the Nomads look? I assure they do not look like that gorgeous afar man you posted. Most are thin, like unbelievably thin with bad skin and bad teeth. The teeth because they all grew up on white sugar. The afar are still holding on to their old ways and should never be compared to the Somalis who are running away from theirs.
I've long noticed the phenotypic differences between Afar and Somali men, differences which did not exist a few decades ago. Afar's on average are more robust, have better facial bone development and have more lean mass. This divide is probably more of an urban/nomadic divide than it is an Afar/Somali divide, but it may seem like the latter to us because most pictures we see of Afars are nomadic pastoralists, while most pictures we see of Somalis are sedentary urbanites.
Food deficiency, drought and low calorie baasto iyo bariis, sookor diet is destroying our genetics, making us deformed, balding and skinny. It also creating whole host of new illnesses that we didn't possess before.
If you know anything about epigenetic's you will realize that we are passing on bad heritable genes to our children and destroying their health and future. For each generation it will become progressively worse if we don't take responsibility and change.
There is a lot of things wrong with him. He has a receding hairline, Poor complexion, sagging wrinkly skin, obese. He displays an array of facial deformities. He definitely does look older for his age.And there's nothing wrong with that young man who's pic you posted...he doesn't look old he just happens to be unattractive by Somali standards.
When i was his age.I looked like a fresh baby. Not that i am insulting him, he along with Barkhad Abdi and many Somalis in the third world are example of the physical degeneration of Somalis.
Meat and fat is essential for us to eat. Also this is what we have evolved on eating for centuries. Somalis today don't eat enough meat, hardly at all. Today we eat mostly refined carbs and sugar, which is poisonous to our bodies. Refined Carbs and sugar not only creates inflammation,it also creates fat deposits on our body and makes it harder to burn fat. Thats why you you are seeing so many , skinny fat or obese Somalis. You also see many Somali girls and boys with fat asses, and love handles due to this diet.As far as diet i think it should consist of more veggies then meat, tho i agree and think meat should be part of our diet. But if you live in America, unless you can afford organic meat who arent full of hormones i'd say lessen your meat intake. The body doesn’t need that much carbs, carbs unlike fat and protein isn’t an essential macronutrient.
I have never been to Somaliland or hargeisa but i heard about some dire trends going on over there.
Yeah i agree we need a revolution, not only are we physically degenerating , we tend to favour a look that lack international appeal (overweight, unhealthy bodies, too pale/bleached skin, horrendous makeup and clothing styles, etc) I have cousins in Somaliland who tell me that crooked teeth and stained caramel brown teeth is a beauty standard there. We need a Somali cultural and social revolution that isnt connected to urbanization because apparently fatness here and having a caalol is a sign of prosperity. Urban revolution is what''s causing all this ugliness.

Definitely agree. You should look into what is called ''epigenetic's''. Only like 5% of our genes are destiny determined. While 95% our genes are depended on our lifestyle , nutrition and environment. So 95% are epigenetically determined.Saar wrote: Tue Jun 27, 2017 7:23 amOur genetics are cursed tho because we have deviated so far from our ancestral and traditional ways.
It goes under what is called gene expression. For example you might have inherited the gene for balding or cancer , but whether that gene is expressed or not depends on your lifestyle and nutrition . So in a way we can turn off bad genes or turn on good genes & vice versa. Pretty much to safe to say that we have control of our genetics and it can be manipulated by us.
Genetics is also divided into what is called Genotype and Phenotype. Genotype is basically our genetic blue print. We all are given a genetic blue print from birth, half from our paternal side and half from our maternal side, which lays down the blue print of of how we should be built.
While phenotype is the materials and the workmanship. Putting it in layman terms, Phenotype is the overlay of the environment, food, nutritional and environmental factors that overlay those genes which then determine how we turn out.

Well said, the urban trends you speak of, like putting prestige in eating processed food ,as well as normalizing health hazardous trends is something to bring attention to. I feel like this is more prevalent in major cities like mogadishu and hargeisa because of the access to processed grain and sugar food and alternative urban lifestyle.Saar wrote: Tue Jun 27, 2017 8:10 amgreat post!
When i was in Qardho and Galkacyo . The nomads and reer badiiyo in general looked really stunning and great in health much like that photo of that Afar man and that somali old man and young boy. Especially when i compared them to the ones i saw in Bosaso who looked like they survived a nuclear blast. The nomads in Qardho lived isolated from any inner cities, followed only a traditionally geeljire diet. In Bosaso people had terrrible hygienes, men had feminine mannerisms which they adopted from indians and Arabs, the women bleach their skin walking around looking like yellow pee. The bariis they ate, was total garbage made me almost vomit as it was literally drenched in rotten food oil. I had one nasty balaayo pick his nose in front of me, then proceed to wipe away saliva with his hands.
In general both genders look , behave ,present and act really unattractive.
