One of my most favourite singers was Maxamed Nuur Giriig, a Hargeisaawi who hails from LaasQorey. His songs, mostly by Abwaan Ina Saleebaan Bidde, are mesmerising and beautiful. He died recently in Hargeisa.

The same token, Hargeisa has always been the centre of the Somali entertainment. Djibouti has been fighting tooth and nail to assume the position after the civil war. Hargeisa is now on the up and assuming that leadership it briefly lost.

By statics along, Somali people are now made up of 70% under the age of 35 years. This is a huge market. At the very least, controlling the hearts & minds of this group should be applauded and supported.

During the 1970s, Hargeisa made almost 80% of Somali people's most famous Fanaans.
