It depends. If she is marrying her former brother in law--- (dhumaal) then --within 90 days is acceptable. But if it is a total stranger--then she should re-marry after 1 year.

That is my logical thinking. I am the queen of etiquette lol It makes sense that dhumaal re-marriage should be quicker, because there is an aspect of Islamic approval of it. 90 days is a good tactful time period . For the year---well, 12 months is appropriate. U know, u r doing it for society and respect of the dead husband, I think. After a Ramadhan calendar year and Eid--I think--is appropriate to do it.
