They are just like isaaq daarod and hawiye. Same people with different political goals.

Well one rules Somalia along with the Bantu's from Kenya, and the other doesn't. Does that explain the difference?

No No No
Tigre are Eritrean most of them are muslims and speak the purest form of geez.
Tigrayans are ethiopian habesh and have nothing to do with tigre people, they have stolen the name and love to be called "Tigre" in ethiopia due to their inferior complexity, but they neither share ancestory or history of Tigre in Eritrea.
Tigrigna people of Eritrea or the "kabassa" are genetically and historically linked/descendents from the Tigre people of Eritrea, 1500 years ago both the tigrigna and tigre were one group.
What happen is the Tigre/tigrigna of Eritrea have the same lineage and "qabil" system too, in the 7th century the tribes living the Eritrean plateau who were known as "xasa" pronounced "Hasa" from the tigre group created a new language called "tigre'igna" which means "from the tigre" because the highland Tigre were getting influx from beja and afars. This is why the tigrigna people are called "Kabassa" which is "Kab-assa" kab=from and assa=xasa or from the waves, Tigre people of Eritrea were known as the xasa or Ta xasa by the egyptians and assyrains for thousands of years.
Tigrayans are from a different stock agew cushtic who mixed with sabean yemenite when they invaded them after the mereb dam collapse, they adopted the Geez langauge in the 5th century from Eritreans (north ethiopians spoke sabean till then which is the same as harari), they adopted the Geez alphabet from Eritreans in the 8th century (Eritrean wrote and spoke geez since 2000 b.c) and then the Ethiopian Tigrayan adopted the tigray name sometime in the 16th century after a yemeni trader called it land of "Tigara" which means trade and they twisted it to tigray/tigre.
Tigrayans are known to steal everything history, names anything to make themselves feel relevant and superior. Tigrayans did not speak tigrigna till after ahmed gragn conquest or almost 1000 years when the language was formed in Eritrean highland.

Tigre are cushetic people speaking a semitic language (sunni muslims)
Ethiopian Tigrayans are semitic people speaking a semitic language(orthodox christians)
Eritrean Tigrayans are semitic people speaking semitic language(orthodox christians)
Amhara are semitic people speaking semitic language(orthodox christians)
Habesha encompasses all the tribes who share the dialects derived from Ge'ez as well as some common cultural practices, there are minority muslim habeshas who were converted during the Ifat/Adal conflict with Abyssinia, its true they deny their habesha origin as they face alot of discrimination from the orthodox christian minority who despise sunni muslims
Some Oromo, Afar and other natives to the Horn are considered Habesha depending on how much they have been assimilated by their overlords, if they speak Habesha dialects, convert to orthodox Christianity they are seen as habesha as its a fluid identity of mix race people, Habesha are 40-50% native people who have just been assimilated over the many centuries, while the other 50-60% are haplogroup J south arabians who just have horn of africa admixture.

Dalolos you got it wrong tigre are Eritrean Muslims but they were Christians to before they converted to Islam 5 or 6 centuries ago and some of them converted during the hijdra to axum . Tigre language is more geez than gurage and tigrinya. Amharic is more cushetic than semetic in comparison to tigre language and tigrinya.
