It’s funny you should mention the incredible improvement in Somaliland-Kenyan relations. This was actually a bi-product of one of Muuses biggest mistakes.

Silanyo appointed his son-in-law as the ambassador to the UAE Baashe Cawil. Because of Somalis natural paranoia (including me) they named him Bashe Morgan and took it as a sign of Nepotismn. Bashe however turned out to be an incredibly capable diplomat and over the 4 year period of his tenure in Abu Dhabi the relationship between the two countries reached unprecedented levels. By the time he was moved (demoted) by Muuse the UAE was Somalilands number one Ally.

Muuse relaced Baashe with baisically his own son-in-law. His first wife has no children so he appointed her nephew (brothers son) as the ambassador of the UAE and demoted Baashe to Kenya in August. Unlike Baashe this kid has hardly travelled and is clearly too young and inexperienced for such a key post. I went to his welcoming and he told the guest that he was not here to deal with trivial day-to-day stuff like passport issues.

The bi-product is that within a few months of Baashe taking up his new role Kenya is again a key ally of Somaliland.
