Why didn’t Barre leave quietly like Mengistu? He only left power after trying to regain power for 18 months after his ouster.

Mengistu left ADDIS intact and is set to be forgiven & rehabilitated as a statesman

A mindset is what destroyed Somalia. First they took power by force , then their inability to rule led them to create more and more division between the tribes and instead of showing humility and patience they chose arrogance and force . The same thing is happening TODAY in Somalia. We just don't have the same mindset which is why we cannot be in the same country
