In your case is similar to ours because brain death is not the same as coma, because someone in a coma is unconscious but still alive and your friend have suffered brain injured. I know what you mean but I can't let it go. I hope your friend have registered organ donor registration office.
One has to let go , keeping a human being artificially alive is a torture , I sat hours beside her bed and all i see is blinking eyes mostly due to seizure. Once the brain is too much damaged its like a computer that is stuck in reboot cycle and won't start .

We are people with faith and hope unlike you.

Kintir boy , thats coma , and we are talking about something completely different. For once hold your kintir culture at bay and stop trying to score points in every subject and every second.

Most of you are still making the same mistakes the family are making . You can be in a coma for years with your brain intact and or mostly intact and one day wake up. This is not the case here.

She had a heart attack , and at least before the ambulance arrived a time elapsed where she wasn't breathing , it could be 30-45 minutes . During that time the brain was starved of oxygen and she was basically dead . Once she was revived and her heart began to beat again and she began to breath , most of the damage has been already done and her brain was severely damaged.

Number one she will never woke up , or be conscience ever again , the little part of her brain that is not damaged is basically keep telling her to breath , but once the breathing tube is removed she can't breath on her own and if she does its very labored irregular breathing. So if the family wants her kept in this stage the doctors have to insert the breathing tube/food in a hole in her throat. No part of her body besides eye blinking will function.

The woman is dead , and keeping her alive at this stage is unethical , don't think i am making this decision as a by standard , she was my best intimate friend and partner . Known her better then her family she would have never agree to be kept alive in this situation . She was hyper , alive , active , constantly moving , laughing , arguing and feisty , she hardly ever stopped moving when not sleeping.

Another thing is , keeping a soul trapped in a dead body , is my issue . I see her as a stuck soul , in between here and after life , and sitting her free is the thing to do , keeping her in this manner is selfish and falls hope. There will never be closure for all her loved once as long as she is kept artificially alive .

this is time of faith,

messenger of ALLAH ,has taught us that we are on two states, if your in a moment of mischief, then you have to be patience, if you are in a moment of blessing, then be grateful.

this is a test for all of you, you included as well,

if i where were you, i would definitely stay next to my beloved one until the soul leaves the body, i would enjoy listening to every breath, hold her hands, because you wont have that chance again.

May ALLAH make it easy on her and her family

This is the problem. Artificially alive is a torture and if there is no hope we need to find alternative.

X.Playa wrote: Thu Jun 06, 2019 2:44 pm So since May 19 my best friend/mate was in comma . The damage she sustained in her brain was too much , the Dr bluntly said she will never wake up and function , she will just be fed and artificially kept a live , through 2 tubes in the throat. The Dr asked since you have been together would she choose that kind of life, i said no , she would rather be let go. Her biological family in the other hand with religion/duca wants her to be living like that for the rest of her natural life , forcefully fed , artificially be kept a life , in a eternal coma. No parts of her body moves , only she blinks and chokes or coughs , that is it. The brain is so much damaged she daily convulses into fits.

Do somalis understand , once your brain is finished despite the heart beat and breathing and little facial movement or eye blinks , you are done finished and should let go?? That i couldn't get across to the family , and the nurses and doctors are bewildered. Keeping a person a life in that stage is torture .

Whoever is paying for her medical expenses will eventually make them decide whether to take it off of it or not. Its not sustainable medical care expenses wise specially if the government is paying for it.

I don't know about your country but, I personally know somebody who was that same exact situation and the state decided that they were spending too much money on a brain dead person. The medical care expenses racked up to a million in the first year alone, so you can imagine what it would be in couple years. They were forced to either they be responsible of the medical expenses or take the life support off of the person which the family chose in the end.
Eid Mubarik bro.
It's sad when vital organ systems have permanently failed and artificial life support just helps the heart beat in.
