What is 650 meters when these guys recently got INSIDE the Mogadishu Municipality and killed Yariisoow IN his office or the time during Hassan Sheekh when they got INSIDE Villa Somalia and staged the attack near the Mosque in the compound.

This attack could be either one of two things;

1. Either Faahad Yaasiin dropped the ball and he is having no better luck than his predecessors controlling NISA
2. Or Fahad Yaasiin has made things hot for them and this is a desperate attempt at biting back

We don't know the death count but the fact that we don't see bombs, a siege, dozens of hostages and hearing about light injuries and people escaping couple gunmen is still a HUGE improvement and shows the extent Shabaab has been weakened

From report it was 5 confirmed Shabaab who pilfered security uniforms precluding you even need to hide weapons who then shot at Villa Somalia gate for "distraction" to get Hotel security to run to help Villa Villa Somalia security.

Apparently Somali security has learned a lot of lessons.

It seems Hotel security stayed put as all security have learned to stay put.

Two of the guys were taken out before entering the hotel and the 3 others got bogged down without being allowed to get room to room giving people chance to escape/be rescued

From reports two government officials have been confirmed to be with light injuries which means the dead are probably the innocent civilians they killed in hotel entrance and gate

Combined security forces handled this unfortunate situation with poise and speed, the attackers were unable to get to main areas of the hotel and thus targeted anyone. This type of incident could've happen anywhere in the world but the response was better than almost any other attack in Mogadishu.
