Now I understand better. For some reason I thought the Bah was referring to the actual daughter of Darandoole himself which would have been impossible because the girl and her name was Fadumo Sufi Ali Muse and is a direct descendant and child of my forefather Sufi and I only count 9 generations to him which is why I was baffled.

The only clan of Marehan I use to heat in household was Reer Koshin and MSB use to refer to my grandfather as a grandad when he use to visit him .

Somali waa iis wada taqaan. I would not say or claim to be from a famous family and it also helped that grandfathers Villa was literally in front of the gate of Villa Somalia. My grandfather was a Nabadoon and I don’t remember exactly what the document was but either Voltage or Abkow posted it, I think the census which I identified my grandfathers name in the signatures .

in a perfect world I would want Bah Darondoole to get 2 seats like Bah Hawaadle, but thats not the case, you have 1 seat, and Rer Nur should get that since you have been squatting on it for 2 decades, they should also get all Galmudug stuff, be it cabinet, MPs etc. The same for Bah Hawaadle, Rer Warsame need to get their turn.

It is a great topic on important subject unfortunately from the wrong person, a sub-clannist. There is no reason that bah-Ogadeen should have a senate and mp, the mp should go to another group within "Waaxda Bah-Ogaadeen" like Habar Ciise.

Bah-Daarandoole seems to have the most fair distribution within reer Diini and I think it is their business how they choose to share it.

As for my bah-Xawaadle, the biggest culprits unfortunately whom are correctly pointed out by Dalalos in this case.

1. There should be 0 and I mean 0 justification why they have 2 mps and a senate seat.
2. Even if Fartaag stole the senate seat in Kismaayo, then reer Ugaas Shermaarke and MP Magan should have vacated his seat for reer Garaad.
3. There should be no reason for my reer Siyaad to collect first among bah-Xawaadle in Gedo and share with reer Warsame in Galmudug.
4. Reer Warsame should be the ONLY representation of bah-Xawaadle in Galmudug.
5. Rer Siyaad and reer Ugaas Shermaarke should share ONE mp from Gedo. If one has national mp seat then the other should be the Jubbaland State main rep for bah-Xawaadle

I have a quick question, Why is Bah Darandoole named as such. From what my grandmother told me about the story of how that Marehan man married, Darandoole was dead for centuries. Why not Bah Wacbudhan, Bah Daud or even Bah Abgaal LOL

Osob, generally lower names likr Bah-Daud are never used for matronomic namrs because it limits the "xigaal" for reer abti...i e every Abgaal is your abti not just the Daud who had your mom.

As for why not bah-Abgaal or even Bah-Mudulood, Basically recently "Mudulood" wasn't the popular "halqabsi" name for Abgaal. It was Daarandoole. It all depends on what the clan has for halqabsi at that time.

Remember the clan system is like a ladder... And just like it goes down, you can go up too (for more support in grave times).

The civil war dusted the name "Mudulood" from obscurity because of the threat Caydiid presented within the USC. Before, Daarandoole held sway.

It is like this topic...today everyone uses reer Diini especially from Galmudug, but before the 70' and especially in Gedo no one used "reer Diini". Theh used Reer Faarax Ugaas. Yet Dalalos didn't say reer Diini but chose to go up the ladder and reverted back to "reer Farax Ugaas" (to make his point even more harshly).

Would like to first make a few corrections.

Maybe according to you the name Mudulood was not popular but at no point has the name Darandoole ever held more sway or known more. There is no such good thing called Bah-Darandoole to begin with and we have never referred to ourselves as such. Mudulood and Abgaal generally never use the word “Bah” which would reference the Reer Abti of the said clan. Sadly Mudulood is generally a very traditional and patriarch society even more so than other Somali, so there hardly any reverence to the females who gave birth to them which also has to so the extreme inter-breeding where others are hardly married.

As for Bah-Darandoole, first time I heard of it was only when my grandmother use to tell me about how MSB use to come and meet my grandfather and the fact my family have been friends with Reer Bixi for a long time which came in handy in 1984 when my father was imprisoned and exiled.

Very quick correction. I did not mean that "Bah- Darandoole" would exist in Abgaal. "Bah" doesn't exist in the originating clan of the mother, but the clan she gave children too. And it only exists if the house was polygamist with multiple mothers.

That is actually very interesting that Mudulood doesn't have any "bah" groupings (and"Habar" I am assuming too). I did not know that.

Bah and Habar are usually differentiation names so for example the Ugaas of Mareexaan Mudug, he is from Reer Shirwac of Reer Ugaas Shermaarke of reer Diini of Khalaf Hussein;

and Ugaas Shermaarke was the son of Diini from the Xawaadle wife (as opposed to the Og or Darandoole wife)

and Diini's grandpa Khalaf was the son of Hussein Yusuf Mataan from his Ajuuraan wife (as opposed to the Abaskuul or Geri Koombe wife)



I notice the "bah" differentiation within the clan is very elaborate not just with Mareexaan but Daarood in general. For example the Ogaden (bah-Xawaadle, bah-Habar Celi) are well known for it and so are the Majeerteen (bah-Mareexaan, bah-Dir Rooble, bah, Dubeis, etx).

Actually you brought a research question to me. Why is the bah usage remembered or even important for organizing the clan internally?

Finally, of course you know Abgaal much better than I do, but I can also tell you that I have read a number of historical accounts and writings and the "Daarandoole" name was very very prominently used back then to identify Abgaal and related kin. This isn't to say Mudulood wasn't used, but from initial perception was second to Daarandoole. Even in maps they were identified as Daarandoole.
